Look, there are lots of crazy people protesting in DC. The locals know it and know not to confront them. The "old dude" is no jerk. He knows all of that. He comes to DC a lot and has been around the block more than a few times (including in Viet damn Nam). The boys did not know any of that and apparently they were not clued in by their school or chaperones on how to stay away from protesters. The "old dude" may have been trying to get the kids to stop paying attention to the black Israelites . . . who knows. In any case, there was no reason for them to treat the "old dude" that way.

Exactly. Old dude is a professional protester. He is used to crowds and the protest game in DC. He wasn’t scared or worried- he went right up to the crowd of boys. It’s his hobby.

Now he’s claiming he was surrounded and heckled but not a single video shows the kids saying a word to the professional protestor.

By all accounts when Nathan Phillips started to chant the tension died down until the boys started swarming around him.

Also in this video that proves Phillips walked directly into the boys doing their school cheer-the monsters- you can see a huge empty area of steps Phillips could have used to access the Lincoln Memorial and finish his religious ceremony. He chose to walk directly into the boys and then claimed they surrounded them. He is a professional protestor and victim.
