Conservative DCUM'ers: how far back do you want LGBTQ rights rolled back?

Doesn’t mean they wish ill on people who struggle with it

But they sure don’t want their kids to think of it as just another fine option for a way to be, nor do they feel it’s something that needs to be publicly celebrated

Also this.

Our politicians bring some issues to the forefront for shock-value purposes. The primary agenda behind many campaign strategies is continually reminding the sheep of why they should fear the awful other side with the end goal being to prevent voters from shifting from reliably red or blue to possibly swing voters. Political messaging that targets keeping the sheep in line is just as important as the messaging geared towards recruiting swing voters. Most of us are sheep and some of us are swing voters but all of our votes are targeted with carefully planned political messaging campaigns that are very effective at using fear and shock-value to woo voters. Fox News, MSNBC and the likes align their messaging to the messaging coming from the base of the party they are in bed with to make it very difficult for American voters to step outside of the political bubble that encapsulates them.

What you say may be true, but it has been my observation that the push back on the trans agenda is not coming from politicians.
It is coming from parents whose children are being forced to participate in pride activities in schools. It is coming from consumers who want companies to stop with the virtue signaling in trying to sell their products. And, it is coming from sports fans who want to keep the whole Pride push out of the sports arena.

I agree for the most part but it does seem as though Desantis is exaggerating some of the questionable aspects of the woke/LBGTQ agenda to stoke irrational fears. Both sides have inflated and distorted what's right and wrong with these types of social agendas to stoke fear for political gain.

The actions DeSantis has taken is a direct result of parental concerns about the crap that was appearing in schools.
It started with parents.

A certain kind of parents.

And dark money funded by…

Probably as organic as the Tea Party Froot Loops were.

I'm fine with Jill taking those powerful estrogen drugs. I'm even wiling to call Jill a she/her. I'm NOT okay with my kid doing it though! In fact, I really wish Jill would stop walking around the neighborhood with her dog because my kid might catch the trans.

Don’t tell me you want to force detransitioners to debate their existence

They’re welcome to exist all day long. Just like trans people are.

So you agree that this path is a mistake for some people

With permanent consequences

Do you agree that some people aren’t making a mistake and that transition is right for them?

Sure

But if you think there’s no social contagion or influence you are just kidding yourself

I have family members w kids in school in very blue areas and the numbers and clustering of kids with gender identification issues is just amazing

This. Something very strange is happening.

💯

This is not Tammy baldwin or Pete buttigieg kind of lgbt

Something totally different is occurring here with lgbt

I don't want LGBT protections rolled back at all. I just want to stop freaking talking about it.

Transsexuality, IMHO, creates a totally different set of issues. Trans people deserve respect, dignity, and protection under the law. I think the whole bathroom controversy is pretty malarkey because trans people just want to pee, they don't want to touch your private parts. However, I am VERY against parents allowing their kids to have trans surgery, the same way that I am completely against parents putting their kids into gay conversion therapy. I also think there is merit to the concerns in sports which have been discussed ad nauseam.

Like all mammals, we as humans have breeds with distinctions; if trans women are women like I believe, then why is it so wrong to think of them as their own distinct breed of women? Please don't flame me because of course trans people are not animals, I just think that mammal science can give us some pointers on this.

Why do you think you should have any say in the personal medical decisions of parents and their kids? And, of course, gay conversion therapy is absolutely known to be cruel and harmful. Transition is not. You just disagree with it.

Why my kids participate other mental health?

Tell the GOP. They’re the ones obsessing over it morning noon and night.

Someone come get their bot; it’s malfunctioning.

Then quit voting for people who ONLY EVER talk about it.

Visited foxnews.com lately? That is ALL they talk about.

Liberals moved on a long, long time ago. You're the ones perpetuating the discussion.

Nice gaslighting. This topic is all Democrats want to talk about, 24/7. Most Americans just want you to shut up. That you refuse to acknowledge this shows what a complete echo chamber you’re living in.

Really?! Interesting. Extremists shouting down invited speakers? Attacking an athlete who wants sporting competitions to be fair? Graphically sexual, over-the-top Pride parades? Liberals haven’t “moved on” - on the contrary, the more attention they can draw to themselves, the better (in their own minds, of course). Mainstream gay people just want to live their lives, like everyone else. Extremists are making that impossible.

Gosh, I wonder if the OP who started this ridiculous thread was a conservative or a liberal. Hmm, I wonder…

Fox has been running multiple stories per day on the bud light situation for the past few months. Dylan Mulvaney posted one Instagram thing about it. That’s not gaslighting. It’s objective reality.

Should we also talk about which party can’t stop bringing up the “threats” the trans community poses to our children? Also not Dems.

You think pride parades are new? Trans kids in sports is fairly new, but what were you expecting after Gorsuch wrote the Bostock decision in 2019? The right is hopping max they can’t discriminate against trans people, and are losing their ever loving minds about it. Boo boo. Get over yourselves.

Let’s take this site as a good example. You could ask Jeff who talks about LGBTQIA+ issues endlessly? It’s not Democrats.

Frankly, the homophobia rampant among Republicans like you only convinces me that a huge number of you are closeted. The way you all obsess over this issue tells on you in a way you haven’t grasped.

I don’t have many republican friends but I do have a few black friends and “no homo” is a common term I hear them say often.
