Taylor Swift is awful (and her music isn't even very good)

Good to see folks speaking out about attention starved Taytay. Between her juvenile antics in the media, her sitting by silently as her "fans" issue death threats (to artists who turned her crazy a** down for a date ), and the fact that her music is utterly forgettable, you have to wonder what all the fuss is about.

This has me curious. Who turned her down for a date?

Did he make as much money as he expected to? Seems doubtful. Seems like he sold the catalog off to try to stop the bleeding. And he responded publicly about how he regretted how everything happened (Swift resented that Braun wanted a signed NDA just to sit down and discuss the recordings with him). Possibly because he got a lot of hate over it.

Swift seems to have made a bunch of money off of it also. Her new versions of her old music sold millions and went up the charts. Seems like a win to me, but I don't hate her music so *shrug*

Geez. Way to contradict yourself. Braun made lots and lots of money but, he didn't make lots and lots and lots of money . Ok, Hailey.

Who are these people you keep calling responders to you? Are these just random female millennial names or are we supposed to know who they are?

My point above isn't contradictory, it seems pretty straightforward. Braun made a bunch of money off Swift, but not nearly as much as he expected to. He certainly did not expect Swift to rerelease her old albums and compete with her earlier music for sales and plays on Spotify etc. I mean, if you think he is some kind of genius in the way he handled this and Swift's moves on the rerecordings have been mistakes, I'd say you are wrong and clearly biased. And I'm not even a Swift fan, I just don't hate her.

I AM a feminist, and I appreciate that she wouldn't sign an NDA just for the privilege of meeting with Braun to talk about the mere possibility of buying her stuff. I'm tired of men silencing women with NDAs. Eff that.

Lmfao. Did Braun tell you the specific amount he hoped to make? Concern trolling much?

Right, I’m sure he totally expected competition from the artist herself, backed by her loyal fan base, on the Spotify and radio plays. You are being so deliberately obtuse that it’s funny!

if i buy something at a certain price and resell it at a muh higher price. I have made a profit. Therefore, my observation stands.

I don't know why it's all over TikTok, but there are a ton of people who think TS is gay and it would help explain some of the criticisms on this thread about her not being "authentic," it "being weird she's 33 and not married," etc.

Her songs make a lot more sense and get a lot more interesting through the lens of them all being about closeted relationships.

dress- "everyone thinks that they know us, but they know nothing about us...I don't want you like a best friend"
king of my heart- "wear you like a necklace"
dancing with our hands tied- "our secret moments in a crowded room, they've got no idea about me and you"
New Romantics- "the rumors are terrible and cruel but honey most of them are true"
I could keep going, there's a ton there if you want to see it. She released a song called "ME!" on Lesbian Visibility Day. She overtly writes songs about women (betty, dorothea, gold rush) in her most recent two albums.

I have never gotten the hint that, criticism of swift on this forum is even remotely related to her sexuality.

Sorry I meant that being closeted could explain why she comes off as inauthentic and why she isn't married. Not that people were criticizing her because they thought she was gay.

Plenty of straight women aren't married at her age .

Just selling something at a higher price is not how investment decisions are made. If his profit was below expectations, then it was a bad investment and he could have made more investing elsewhere.

It would also explain why some of her relationships seem to be obvious PR stunts. The Tom Hiddleston one really did me in. It was bizarre. They did not seem remotely into each other but for one summer, every time I opened Gawker or a similar gossipy-type site, the headline would be about some sighting of them and the picture made it seem very obviously to be a publicity stunt. Just very weird.

If it turned out Taylor was gay, that could explain some of why she strikes me as kind of fake and awkward. But also... if she's gay, why hide it at this point? She's been vocally pro-LGBTQ+ so it's not like she is mired in some kind of self-hating homophobia. It's 2022, so it's not like it would cost her record deals or prevent her from making her music. And even if it did cost her some fans (she still has a fanbase from her country music days that is likely more conservative and potentially uncomfortable with the idea of her being gay), she's at a level of fame and success where, honestly, she'd be more than okay without whatever homophobes might currently be buying Taylor Swift records. She probably stands to gain more fans than she'd lose if she came out because I think she'd get a lot of support from people who might not currently care much about her.

So for these reasons, I don't think she's gay. I think she's just kind of awkward and inauthentic. It's a personality thing, not a shield for something else.

Stop using big words you can’t spell. Nobody thinks you’re intelligent anyway.

The number of devout Swifties on this board (and, by extension, in the DC parenting community) is nuts.

I like her well enough. I am in 50s and definitely not her demographic, but the girl
works hard, has some catchy tunes that even I have downloaded on my playlists.
Why the hate?

It has been explained in the thread several times by multiple posters. Extremely weird to jump in on PAGE 29 after pages and pages of people explain “why the hate” just ask “why the hate?”

My theory is that there are actually like 3 but they are VERY devout.

Many of the DC parenting community are now millennials who listened to Taylor throughout their high school and college years.

Even if people read that, it doesn't make much sense. There is no reasonable explanation to "hate" someone who makes music you don't particularly like. So, really, why the obsession?
