This really depends on the year. Generally, yes. As others have posted on this forum the one exception where Pride was equal in talent on the field to Capital Blue was their 2023 team. That Pride team chose to stay together. But this was unusual.

Both Capital Blue and Pride Black played in the top brackets of tournaments that year and both had extremely high strength of schedules - top 5. The difference in those two teams was Pride had no clue how the recruiting scene worked and their players paid a steep price as a result.

Go to whatever team your DD can make that will play in the top brackets, plays a tough SoS, and the club has had proven recruiting success. If playing at a high level in college is the end goal.

Pride 23 routinely lost to Cap 23 so not quite accurate to say they were equal in talent.

These two teams only met once as Capital vs Pride that I’m aware of. It was a close game. The players who went on to make up these teams played a few times prior as Pride and Stars. Pride won those games. When 3 of the Pride 2023 players earn Player of the Year Awards this year and many were recognized as All Met I’d say they were a talented group.

Cap Blue 23 beat Pride 23 Black twice during their club careers. Cap beat them by three in ‘21 and by five in ‘22. Cap has even rotations. Pride played never took their starters off the field.

So Pride didn't make one substitution the whole game? Not even one? Thats bananas. They really must have wanted to beat Capital.

That Pride went no substitution against Cap is 100% incorrect. The Pride 23 team had an equal playing time policy and while it may not have always been 50/50, it was never more than 60/40. The talent on that Pride team was pretty even with everyone playing, frequently alternating quarters/goalies switching halves. etc.

BLC girls should def be trying out for multiple clubs and steer clear of Capital Orange if they r THAT good. Sounds like talent will end up being spread out. All the local 25s had a ton of college coaches on sidelines. Scores don’t matter to coaches so wherever the 27s end up lax life will be good if they keep grinding wherever they land.

The Stars A team is much further down the list. For 2027s, it goes Hero’s Green and M&D Black, then next level down is BLC, MD United, Pride NOVA Red, and Skywalkers Blue. Then next level down is Stars Light Blue. Then next level or several levels down are a bunch of clubs, including MC Elite, YJMA, Rebels, etc.

Yes, you are right. Not many stars 27s will make Capital. But the stars HS program may benefit from that if the girls choose to stay.

At most 2 players from Stars 27 makes Capital Blue.

Do you know every girl on the stars 27 roster? How can you even say this with any certainty?

I've watched Stars play multiple. A good well-coached B level team but no outstanding athletes. 3 of their best players came from Pride where they were backups. 2 girls to Capital may be on the high side if most BLC starters try out.

As a current Pride parent, I can state that this is untrue. The 3 girls were strong starters and nice girls and are missed. Wishing them the best in their tryouts.

All of this would be interesting to people wanting a Pride 2023 thread. This is a 2027 thread.

Let’s all try to be like this current Pride parent!

I would still rank BLC slightly ahead of Pride because they play the top teams a little closer for whatever reason. Either way, if we're talking talent, the 27 Capital team should be very close BLC and Pride as far as numbers. Stars should be in the back with maybe a few. If we're talking politics and connections, just put 11 Stars girls and 11 BLC girls on the top team and be done with it. Good luck beating M&D with that line up though.

That game was a very odd score, but its clear BLC in downward spiral in their last few tournaments with the team folding and girls focused more on tryouts at new clubs. Pride solid team but BLC just better despite that odd score.

Which tournament did these two teams play in during 2022? US Club Lacrosse shows they played once during their high school seasons.

That’s because US Club Lax removed 23 scores for all teams for the 2021-2022 season. President’s Cup.

Interesting, I don’t believe the 2023 class played in the 2022 Presidents Cup. Probably explains why you know so little about that Pride team.

For the record:

Capital Blue 23 played Pride Black 23 only once: at President’s Cup in 2021.

Capital Blue 23 won that game 8-5.

Pride Black 23 prioritized winning (similar to the Baltimore clubs). The team had starters and would give them more playing time than other players.
Pride Black 23 practiced this model in the Capital Blue 23 game.

Capital Blue 23 prioritized recruiting. The team would switch its starting line for every game and rotate its lines every three minutes, regardless of the opponent or score.

Both teams played competitive schedules.

Pride Black 23 went 10-14 in their last season and ended with a final ranking of 24.

Capital Blue 23 went 14-11 in their last season and ended with a final ranking of 15.

Pride Black 23 has 4 All Met players this year. One has been named twice (2022 & 2023).

Capital Blue 23 has 7 All Met players this year. Four have been named twice (2022 & 2023).

Pride Black 23 has two All Americans this year. Both are first time selections.

Capital Blue 23 has six All Americans this year. Two are two-time selections (2022 & 2023).

When will people understand that W-L and head-to-head records do not matter at this level, as long as the teams are competitive and in the higher tournament brackets? The goal is recruiting and visibility to college coaches. Save the championships for your high school teams.

There were no "starters" on the Pride 2023 team. Such a stupid lack of facts.
They had awesome talent that was never used up to potential. Everyone played almost equally in every game. And there were plenty of people who would have rather they played "to win."
The sad fact is that the coaches and the club head had little idea what they were doing- if they did, there might have been "starters" and the team would have done even better! You are giving them way too much organizational credit. Trust me, everyone played, and that was the same for both Pride and Capital. Very evenly matched, tied at half, and Capital won at the end.
And all those girls play extremely happily next to each other in high school, and would never say one team was better than the other. Much, much smarter and more mature than the parents on these threads.
