Are Pride A teams better than Capital Orange?
This really depends on the year. Generally, yes. As others have posted on this forum the one exception where Pride was equal in talent on the field to Capital Blue was their 2023 team. That Pride team chose to stay together. But this was unusual. Both Capital Blue and Pride Black played in the top brackets of tournaments that year and both had extremely high strength of schedules - top 5. The difference in those two teams was Pride had no clue how the recruiting scene worked and their players paid a steep price as a result. Go to whatever team your DD can make that will play in the top brackets, plays a tough SoS, and the club has had proven recruiting success. If playing at a high level in college is the end goal.
Pride 23 routinely lost to Cap 23 so not quite accurate to say they were equal in talent.
These two teams only met once as Capital vs Pride that I’m aware of. It was a close game. The players who went on to make up these teams played a few times prior as Pride and Stars. Pride won those games. When 3 of the Pride 2023 players earn Player of the Year Awards this year and many were recognized as All Met I’d say they were a talented group.
Cap Blue 23 beat Pride 23 Black twice during their club careers. Cap beat them by three in ‘21 and by five in ‘22. Cap has even rotations. Pride played never took their starters off the field.
Which tournament did these two teams play in during 2022? US Club Lacrosse shows they played once during their high school seasons.
That’s because US Club Lax removed 23 scores for all teams for the 2021-2022 season. President’s Cup.
Interesting, I don’t believe the 2023 class played in the 2022 Presidents Cup. Probably explains why you know so little about that Pride team.
For the record: Capital Blue 23 played Pride Black 23 only once: at President’s Cup in 2021. Capital Blue 23 won that game 8-5. Pride Black 23 prioritized winning (similar to the Baltimore clubs). The team had starters and would give them more playing time than other players. Pride Black 23 practiced this model in the Capital Blue 23 game. Capital Blue 23 prioritized recruiting. The team would switch its starting line for every game and rotate its lines every three minutes, regardless of the opponent or score. Both teams played competitive schedules. Pride Black 23 went 10-14 in their last season and ended with a final ranking of 24. Capital Blue 23 went 14-11 in their last season and ended with a final ranking of 15. Pride Black 23 has 4 All Met players this year. One has been named twice (2022 & 2023). Capital Blue 23 has 7 All Met players this year. Four have been named twice (2022 & 2023). Pride Black 23 has two All Americans this year. Both are first time selections. Capital Blue 23 has six All Americans this year. Two are two-time selections (2022 & 2023).
Move on! Nobody cares about the 2023 teams. This is a 2027 thread.
100%
