Bi just beat SSSAS again for the VA State title. It went into triple (or maybe it was quadruple) 3 min OT. BI took it 8-7. The reffing was appalling with it being very biased against BI. Kind of amazing that they won in spite of it.

Wow, that sounds like a hard fought game on both sides. Congratulations to the BI team for their win!

BI has been the best team in Alexandria for the past 4 or 5 years. That’s why Saints won’t play them during the regular season.

Yes BI does have the best team in all of Virginia - as proven by their multiple state championships. But, you simpleton, that is not why BI and SSSAS don't play until the VISAA final. BI wants to wait for the VISAA final just as much as SSSAS does. Its the perfect game, after both have excelled all season, to close out their year and see who is the best in our area. No reason for either team to rush it. Its a awesome end-of-season game every year.

Why do you continue to post same thing - you have made your point loud and clear.

BI is not where they are today if it were not for the Saint' areas dominance for the 20 plus years.

When was the last time Saints did not win either an ISL tourney or VA State tourney? Decline of Saints demonstrates growing parity in DMV.

Saints has never before this year lost the ISL AA Tournament but they have lost the VISAA championship to BI three times before. Saints is definitely not the powerhouse it once was.

I agree, there are plenty of great options now for HS girls. BI and Visi have looked good for several years and now Holton and (a bit further behind) Potomac are building better programs. It's great for this area. There were several MS girls at the game checking out BI & SSSAS. BI seemed to have the edge, even before the win, based on Sofield's player friendly and positive coaching reputation. At least 2 moms mentioned the politics around playing time at SSSAS. It'll be interesting to follow the recruiting battles over the next 2-3 years and the impact on Clubs.

Anyone who doesn’t think there is also politics involved in BI playing time has their head in the sand. Talk to some non-starter families at BI. Rick is great yes but he is far from immune to politics. However BI’s biggest drawback, as well as its biggest strength, is its academics. It’s incredibly easy to get in and takes mid year transfers. OTOH it’s academics are terrible.

Any chance Rick Sofield will start a club program? My DD plays for a club dominated by SSSA and we are getting tired of the favoritism.

Oh, the irony.

No, just auto-correct.

That seems to be a conflict of interest.

When you are the largest school in the conference by a wide margin, have the facilities that GP offers, there is no reason why Prep should not be kicking ASS in the IAC. GP is not STA either when it comes to academics either.

Holding GP athletics back? What a ridiculous statement. He is the Athletic Director - not the Lacrosse (at all costs) Director. Take the time to review Prep's IAC W-L records, and IAC championships, in the Fall / Winter / Spring sports for 2017-2018, then try to make that statement.

Prep won the IAC Founders Cup in 2015-16, awarded to the strongest overall athletic program.

They shared the Founders Cup with Landon for 2016-17.

Looks like the Prep AD is doing a pretty good job overall.

Prep wins IAC Founders Cup for 2017-18.

Wait a minute. The Director of Capital is a paid position, and has control over team placement. If you think there isn’t a SSSA bias you are crazy. Not pick or move SSSA girls and lose the coaching appt at SSSA, I don’t think so.
