People live in fort mill because the taxes are lower and the schools are better. Number one schools in the state.

This. Your aquaintance my be kooky, but the Fort Mill schools are undeniably better - its a big draw for many families regardless of political persuasion.

Is there a good podcast about this case?

Yes! The Murdaugh Murders podcast with Mandy Matney. She has been on this for a LONG time and is doing good work on this case.

PP here. My aquaintance is definitely kooky, and lives in Fort Mill while sending his kids to private school. Also, Fort Mill schools may be the best in SC (no clue) but highly doubt they are any better than schools in Weddington and Waxhaw, NC.

The trial started today. Anyone else following? The prosecutor The prosecutor said a 'family weapon' was used to kill his wife and gunshot residue was found on Alex Murdagh's seatbelt.

I'm confused by this " Murdaugh's surviving son, Richard, known as Buster, who is expected to testify against his father, is sitting behind him in the courtroom."

I thought his son was visiting him in prison? I could have sworn I saw those photos somewhere in the media.

Also, if his son is testifying against him, why would he be sitting behind him in court?

This whole thing is fascinating. It is like everything you thought went on in these southern towns, really does. Every witness has to tell where they grew up and where they are from like some kind of indicator of where they fall in the hierarchy. The whole thing is like a country song. Dogs, thievery, murder, betrayal. This Murdaugh guy, I mean what didn't he do? This is gonna be a helluva movie. I think Conan O'Brien should play Alex or "Elec" as they hilariously call him.

I thought that I read that Buster is testifying on his behalf.

Buster may have been subpoenaed by the prosecution, but he has definitely been supporting his dad, so far at least.

What makes you say that?

Anonymous wrote:So the guy was indicted today in the murder of his wife and son.

based on the news, there is a "mountain of evidence" against him, including splattered blood on his shirt, which indicates he was close to at least one of the victims when he/she was shot, and a video on his son's cellphone with audio of murdaugh arguing with his wife right before she was killed, at a time Murdaugh had said he was with his father.

If this evidence exists, i wonder why it took so long for him to be investigated and indicted. this guy did appalling things (including death of house keeper and the steal of the insurance money, trying to cover up the accident his son caused by silencing witnesses and trying to shift blame on another kid) but he got away with eveyrthing until the mountain of s$it was just to high (probably embezzling millions from his attorney partners was not cool). also the story of the teenager who died a few years ago and the mother kept saying it was not an accident and she thought the Murdaugh kids were involved but she was ignored. I wonder how much s$it this family got away for decades while controlling prosecution in that area and while sentencing poor or minorities to prison for small things. disgusting is the system and the people who helped them

From what I have heard from people who know the family well, he’s a rotten apple in an otherwise well thought of family. They have done a lot of pro bono work for a very poor county for decades.

A rotten Apple who is obviously born from a rotten Apple.

Now a bomb threat. I mean I’m expecting a chicken to be let loose in the courtroom any time!
