They were awful. Poor Miguel. I loved how happy he looked when Annie greeted him with, "Grandpa!!" He deserves some happiness. I'm finding myself completely irritated by Randall's high-strung campaign manager. What a jerk. |
Agree w/all of the above. Regarding Nicky, whoever the actor is, he's doing a great job. The rage and helplessness he feels is palpable. I'm wondering if he commits suicide. I loved Jack taking care of the little boy and his mom; I wonder if this becomes a relationship. |
I don't think Kate has lost any weight, but she seemed happy and confident - that helps immensely. She looked really pretty and she was sassy and teasing. I like her that way! |
This season has jumped the shark. Randall running for city council continues to annoy me. The way we learned that Nicky didn't die in Vietnam felt like a cheap trick; wouldn't Kevin have done basic research? And the way we learned that old Randall and grown up Tess are going to se Rebecca was lazy writing. |
Did anyone catch the address on the letter to Nicky? I was focusing on the name on the envelope. |
Because old Randall ends up divorced. One night sleeping on the couch and boom. |
I can't remember when I have seen a full profile of her before like that shot from a distance at the community college, but I thought she looked less heavy too. |
It was something like "Bradford, PA" Definitely was PA -- as in Pennsylvania. The city was hard to make out. |
Why does everyone think Randall and Beth are divorced? Just because he asked Tess to call her? I have asked my kids to call or text their dad before, and we’re still happily married. I think it looks like they are running the community center that he talked about before.
Someone on fb suggested that Rebecca has known Nicky is still alive and that’s the secret she referred to. Maybe she did some digging and found out he’s still alive but didn’t think Jack should know. It’s kinda unrealistic that he’s been living so close by and going by his real name but nobody has even googled him. Especially Kevin. Seems like a simple google search would happen before going to Vietnam. I’m a little nervous that we haven’t seen future kate yet. I hope she doesn’t die in childbirth. But maybe she does and it causes mental issues for Rebecca. That would explain Toby saying she wouldn’t want to see him. Her complaints about aches and pains seemed to be hinting at an illness such as MS or ALS though. |
I don’t know. Rebecca held that secret about William all those years. Do you think the writers would saddle her with ANOTHER big secret about Nicky?! |
I’ve loved this show and hadn’t gone an episode without getting a little teary-eyed. Excerpt for these last two episodes. I’m between bored (Tess likes girls? Deja wants to see her mom? Nicky’s alive? Ho hum) and annoyed (Beth’s so busy and things so complicated that she can’t let Randall just lose his campaign, he needs to quit tonight or it’s divorce? Hmmm, k). Who would have ever guessed that Kevin would become the hero of this series? |
Bradford, Pa. is near the New York border, not near Pittsburgh or Philadelphia. I liked how he lives on Songbird Lane. I was sure all along he killed himself, so I was relieved not to have to witness that. |
I am obsessed with the actor who plays Nicky, so this is good news if we get to keep seeing him. |
+1 I hate it when they spell things out for the viewers. Future Beth tells her assistant that they're going to see Randall's mom. I'd rather them show than constantly tell. |
My theory:
Nicky kills the Vietnamese woman and/or her son, either in an accident while he was high, or deliberately. Jack has never forgiven him, cuts him out of his life, and speaks about him as if he died in the war. Future Rebecca has Alzheimer's and they are going to visit her. They play Pin-the-Tail-on-the-Donkey as a way of helping her remember things. Question: Future Beth is a dance instructor? What?? Does she have dance background? I found that very odd. |
