He was the antithesis of her judgmental, shallow, difficult mother. That would do it. |
I did not see that coming about Tess!! Anyone? |
I think they have hinted that Tess has been feeling isolated and unseen. My impression is that children coming out can feel pretty alone at times. |
Miguel’s children. Arghhhh.
Does Tess potentially having a girlfriend alter how we should look at the flash forward about not being ready to see “her”? |
Truly horrible. The daughter I could take but I have never wanted to jump through the TV and punch someone more than I did to the son last night. What an a**hole! |
wait what??? did it get delayed last night? looked like NCIS or something just starting an episode so I turned it off. |
I liked last night's episode a lot.
I am liking Miguel more and more. He stood up to his a-hole kids to defend Rebecca - and himself, in a way. Also, the warm way the Pearsons greeted Miguel when he and Rebecca showed up for dessert was a stark contrast to how cold and distant his own kids were. It's like he took Jack's advice and worked hard to show up for the Pearson kids over the years and is now able to reap the benefits as a grandfather even though he was never able to do the same with his own kids. Kate helping Tess and taking Thanksgiving dinner in stride shows that she's gaining confidence in herself and her ability to handle things. She has really grown up since Toby's downward spiral, and does she look a bit slimmer or is it just me? Randall still frustrates me with his superhero act (trying to protect Beth's feelings). He has a strong, smart wife and while sometimes he seems to recognize how much of an asset she is, other times he seems patronizing toward her. I also appreciated the scene with Nicky and Jack where Nicky describes what happened to his CO. You could tell that it never crossed Jack's mind that people could turn on you like that, even during war. It also reinforces how difficult it was for the GIs in Vietnam. I have a bad feeling that Nicky is going to get killed under Jack's watch. |
I bet the girl is going to kill him, when Nicky tries to help one of them. Or her dad. |
At the beginning of the show when the Pearson family is celebrating Thanksgiving. Miguel arrives at the door with a cell phone in his hand. He was trying to reach his kids (thru his ex wife).
What year would this have been. The cell phone looked like a flip phone. Does that make sense considering the time frame? |
It was 1998 I think so there were flip phones. ![]() |
I remember that during the first Thanksgiving of the show Pearson’s weren’t that warm to Miguel either. |
Ha. When I was searching for something last night, I found the instructional manual to the exact 1998 phone in the picture. I gotta clean out! |
Something about wearing the hat, right? |
Randall with his gratuitous shirless scene, I didnt mind ![]() Kate did have a new sparkle ![]() Interesting thought about brother dying on his watch ![]() I dont want to be left hanging at the fall midseason finale (next week I believe). But previews indicate we will get some answers. I want a watch party! ![]() |
I also thought Chrissy Metz looked different. Slimmer? Better make up? Pregnancy sparkle? It was super noticeable that it was different and pretty. Happy to see it. Episode was ok - worries about the “answers” we are going to get next week. Feel like they will tease more than they explain.
Miguel’s kids suck. |
