I agree that they should actually stop all government work, or make it clear that's what would happen if they don't pass the budget. If people really felt that impact of losing all that the government does for them, they'd stop electing these crazy people who want to shut things down just for spite.

Thank goodness we got/getting paid 3x this month. |
I got paid on 9/4 and 9/18. |
NP and the pay period ends 9/29 so you will get another full paycheck. |
ok cool thanks |
The actual pay will hit October though! |
+1 |
It looks like moderate Republicans and Dems are working on a Plan B involving a procedural discharge. This is great news - I don’t think a shutdown is a high likelihood anymore. |
er, really? because the procedure for discharge looks to be both tenuous and batsheet crazy: https://sgp.fas.org/crs/misc/R45920.pdf |
This is the best news all week. Chances of government shutdown are now significantly lower. |
Can a lawyer explain this discharge procedure ? |
No the payperiod ends 9/22. |
+1. It’s an idea, being floated by a different wing of Republicans. No one is actually on board yet. And all them Dems would need to be on Board, plus Rs would have to break ranks against McCarthy. Meanwhile, the House again failed to bring military appropriations to the floor to debate. Not to actually vote on passage, mind you. They can’t even agree to debate it. Wayyyyyyy to soon for optimism. |
Different agencies use different payroll providers and have different playdates. We use Dept of Interior and close out on Friday, 9/22 (payday 9/29). Which, yes, makes 3 paydays in Sept (9/1, 9/15, 9/29). And would be one week into the next pay period when we shutdown. But other agencies may differ. |
You're right, I was thinking about the pay date being 9/29 but the pay period ends one week sooner. |
