Taylor Swift is awful (and her music isn't even very good)

2) Swift plays both piano and guitar. She knows the guitar is a percussion instrument and uses that to great effect, changing rhythm to suit her lyrics. She often changes keys in the middle of a song which adds further interest.

3) Swift can sing well enough to record albums and play live. Do I think her voice is spectacular? No. Little Big Town did a spectacular job with her song, “Better Man”. Taylor sang it at the Bluebird Cafe and without a doubt, Little Big Town has a superior recording. But Swift’s performance was raw and real and did not diminish the song

A guitar is not a percussion instrument.

Yes, it actually is.

People throw rocks at things that shine.

This is a discussion board. If people want to talk about stuff they don’t like, that’s a perfectly acceptable topic of conversation. There are, I’m sure, thousands of forums online for people who love Taylor Swift to talk about why and how much. That’s great! This forum is about disliking Taylor Swift.

An option you have is to just not read a forum like this snd just go and enjoy your Taylor Swift fandom in any of the multitude of places where it will go unquestioned. It’s not like someone came into your home or workplace and started telling you how much they dislike Taylor Swift. Your presence here is entirely within your control.

This doesn’t even make sense as a metaphor. Please give an example of people throwing rocks at “things that shine”? Is there some history of people constantly throwing rocks at the sun or shiny jewelry or something?

Actually, perhaps a nonsensical and fake profundity is the perfect defense of Taylor Swift, whose lyrics are loaded with nonsensical and fake profundities. Ver meta. Well done.

People like you are her bread and butter.

Just finished reading through the thread. You're doing the lord's work by posting something like this among Swifties, OP. Good to see folks speaking out about attention starved Taytay. Between her juvenile antics in the media, her sitting by silently as her "fans" issue death threats (to artists who turned her crazy a** down for a date ), and the fact that her music is utterly forgettable, you have to wonder what all the fuss is about.

A discussion board is for discussing. The good and the bad. Take your own advice.

Yes, suburban DC moms in their center-hall colonials wondering what all the fuss is about is of prime concern to Taylor Swift, I’m sure.

I’m not the one suggesting people who like Taylor Swift should go away or leave me alone. I’m actually enjoying arguing with you on this thread, it’s why I’m here. Your argument was “why express your dislike of Taylor Swift when I, a person who loves her, might see it and feel defensive and angry?”

One question to ask yourself is why your love of something is so easily threatened by other people’s opinions. Maybe secretly you have outgrown Swift’s weird cult of trite love songs and posturing and it’s time to move on?

I didn't say that, you aren't arguing with me. Relax weirdo.

Can anyone explain why my TikTok is FIlLLED with #gaylor? It is so bizarre!

I would not voluntarily listen to TS as am jaded, Gen-X, indie-forward, etc. That said, she writes her own music and lyrics and plays multiple instruments, which seems head and shoulders above her auto-tune dependent peers. Why the vitriol? Is it the cats?

I don't know why it's all over TikTok, but there are a ton of people who think TS is gay and it would help explain some of the criticisms on this thread about her not being "authentic," it "being weird she's 33 and not married," etc.

Her songs make a lot more sense and get a lot more interesting through the lens of them all being about closeted relationships.

dress- "everyone thinks that they know us, but they know nothing about us...I don't want you like a best friend"
king of my heart- "wear you like a necklace"
dancing with our hands tied- "our secret moments in a crowded room, they've got no idea about me and you"
New Romantics- "the rumors are terrible and cruel but honey most of them are true"
I could keep going, there's a ton there if you want to see it. She released a song called "ME!" on Lesbian Visibility Day. She overtly writes songs about women (betty, dorothea, gold rush) in her most recent two albums.

I have never gotten the hint that, criticism of swift on this forum is even remotely related to her sexuality.

Do you want a list of female artists who write their own and play instruments ? or do you think she's somewhat in a league of her own?
