When are you going to stop wearing masks indoors (stores, etc)

Wearing my mask, thanks !

Stacey Abrams is not dumb!

Masks work. Still wearing now in stores, and likely will wear in high risk places going forward. I get that the government is trying to bolster the economy, and keep these anti mask protesters at bay, but I'm not sacrificing myself to it.

BTW...good luck having teachers return to their jobs in the next few years. No one will sign up for this again.

Ah yes, now that you don’t like the CDC messaging, you claim they are bending to fringe political pressure. So predictable.

No one is saying you are not allowed to wear a mask including teachers. I totally support someone’s right to decide. I don’t get why people are so mad. I will probably still mask at stores because I want to but will allow my kids freedom to decide. They have said they will bring masks with them and make situational decisions based on how many kids together and if the teacher has a mask etc. I just have come to the conclusion that some people will never be okay with no masks. We have a lot of people who deal with anxiety and I get it but you can’t make decisions for everyone based on anxiety.

1000x wrong.

The entire state of DE hasn't been masking for like months now, I know because I have to go there constantly. That's a blue state if I've ever seen one.

I think you may be the dumb one here. Ignorant of mathematics, statistics, and epidemiology.

Just left Home Depot and very few customers had masks. Beautiful thing!

What a weird comment. Just do what YOU want to do. Why do you need the 'support' of strangers?

DP. It's not about validation from others, it's about the experience of leaving the pandemic behind, and seeing normalcy.

I’m a liberal and I stopped masking last week. I used to REALLY care people would think I was some anti CoVID conservative but now I just … don’t. I don’t care what strangers think because I know my values. I’m don’t caring about any of this. Numbers have dropped. I didn’t get it in surges and I have a high contact job. I feel like it’s fine. Anecdotally a LOT more people are unmasked in stores this weekend than even last week.

That’s dumb logic. If you haven’t had it already (when everyone else was masking to protect you) you are going to get it now. You can decide you don’t care, but don’t be silly and assume it will never come for you.

It’s both. I don’t think I’ll get it and I can’t care anymore.

I'm going to continue wearing a mask indoors for the foreseeable future until a vaccine is developed to cover current variants.

It is not "political" at all, I'm wearing as high a quality mask as I can afford to protect my health. I don't care what anyone else does at this point.

Just back from Walmart and, of all places, at least half the customers were masked. A little shocked.

It's so sad when old people who aren't funny try to be funny online.

NP. Yes, exactly like you.

An omicron-specific vaccine has been developed already both by Pfizer and Moderna. It's undergoing clinical trials now. Very small animal studies (in mice and primates) suggest it triggers the same immune response as the current vaccines-- high levels of antibodies targeted at the original spike protein.

It sounds like you and I are on the same page about making choices based upon our own health and the circulating variants, which sounds sensible. But your condition for mask removal is worth revision, since it has already been met.

I stopped wearing a mask after recovering from omicron, which was for me a very mild infection. The reason was twofold: I believe I have a good level of immunity AND, even if I don't, omicron was such a non-event that the very brief symptoms it caused were less onerous than wearing a mask in public. I will resume masking if a more virulent variant emerges that is able to evade all existing immunity.

I am happy for people who can unmask. It is weird and painful to see masks on faces - it especially bothers me to see kids masked.

I am high risk though - I hope you will be polite to me when I continue to wear a mask. I hope not to hear sarcasm or see eye rolls.

+1

You will hear abuse, unfortunately. But, like a lot of things this is going to be the best litmus test for idiots. Let them hurl comments at you...there are those who proudly advertise their low cognitive attainment for whatever reason by yelling.

Well, you can't expect the typical Wal-mart shopper to be able to follow the science and understand a mask is no longer necessary if you're vaccinated.
