When are you going to stop wearing masks indoors (stores, etc)

Saw the CDC news before I went to District Taco in Alexandria to pick up an order last night. Walked in without a mask. Saw that EVERYONE who was not eating was masked, so I put mine on.

Criticize me all you want. Call me a sheep. After two years of this, I feel impolite to be the ONLY person unmasked in a room of masked people. Masks don't bother me - feeling impolite does.

Do what you want. That's my plan.

I am happy for people who can unmask. It is weird and painful to see masks on faces - it especially bothers me to see kids masked.

I am high risk though - I hope you will be polite to me when I continue to wear a mask. I hope not to hear sarcasm or see eye rolls.

I stopped as soon as the mask mandate ended in my area about a month ago.

Why would you keep wearing masks? Unless you're a slave in mind. After all, it's what the "science" said, ya know? Don't you "believe in science"?

I've decided to not wash my hands anymore so that I'm not a sheep living in fear.

- highly, highly vulnerable people (very few people)
- people who've had their germophobia awakened by covid. They operated pretty normally before, but now they can't unsee all the germs everywhere and are pretty freaked out by it all (even if the "germs" are benign and normal, even healthy for your immune health strengthening)
- insecure people who don't like being seen. People who don't want to be recognized (even though we can still recognize you with a mask)
- people who've made "masks make me a good person" their identity, and they don't know how to redirect being a good person to other areas - "a masker" has become a part of their identity
- people who are doing it because everyone else is doing it. I think this is the vast majority of people. Slowly these people will unmask and be the majority, but it's going to take time.

Nah. It is people who are immunocompromised or have family who are (lots of people, not very few as you say) and people who aren’t so sensitive that they are annoyed by a little mask. It seriously is no big deal to wear one. Only a problem if you are unable to tolerate any amount of self discipline. Wearing a mask in a store is much less of a pain than being sick for a week.

Don’t forget people in days 6-10 of covid, or close contacts who I believe are still supposed to mask for 10 days.

Why so nasty? The science says that masks reduce spread. Good masks that fit well are effective for hours. It's unlikely you'd get covid in a store, but it's not impossible. Getting covid is a giant pain in the ass, at best.

Let people follow the science and make the right choice for themselves.

It's so sad when old people who aren't funny try to be funny online.

+1. Others wearing masks doesn't hurt me! Maskless people who are sick might, so please be considerate of your fellow humans if you are ill.

Please be considerate by staying home. Not by going out in an ill-fitting mask that provides a sense of comfort while you spew COVID over everyone around you.

The dumbest people alive think their masks prevented colds for the last year. Even Dr. Fauci laughs at that notion. Staying home and social distancing is what works.

It's not funny. It's apt.

Comparisons don't need to be equal to be accurate comparisons.

I will continue to mask indefinitely because I work with children too young to be vaccinated and I have too much to do to be sidelined for days by Covid.

Covid is not over. Your booster has about a 4 month effective span. You can still get and spread Covid while vaccinated.

Masks work. Still wearing now in stores, and likely will wear in high risk places going forward. I get that the government is trying to bolster the economy, and keep these anti mask protesters at bay, but I'm not sacrificing myself to it.

BTW...good luck having teachers return to their jobs in the next few years. No one will sign up for this again.

Masks are now political. It's just way to identify what party or mindset one is. I'm happy to see who is dumb.

Wearing my mask, thanks !
