I am sure there is more, and some of this should happen anyhow, but Mitch can try to get his one SCOTUS appointment through at this juncture, but the will of the people will have spoken, loudly and serious reform and modernizing will need to happen.

Give DC 2 voting senators!!!

I also think Barrett is fine. That isn't the problem. The problem is the GOP having no principles. They need to show some now.

There are very few elected officials in either major party that have principles. There are some good story tellers that may have convinced you that they are principled. Even Bernie voted with the gun lobby for decades and has like three homes.

Misdirection. McConnell insisted in 2016 that the right thing to do was to let the American people decide. Democrats abided by this principle. Now McConnell doesn't want to abide by this principle. He will destroy the tiny remaining shreds of political good will left in this country. If that doesn't sound like much to you, then you aren't paying attention.

Hilarious. Democrats did not abide by anything. They did not have the power to stop McConnell (he used the power that Democrats gave the Majority Leader only years prior when they were in charge). They complained relentlessly to no avail. Now Republicans will be taking the positions adopted by Democrats in 2016 and vice versa. It is called politics.

If Democrats were smart they can use this. Trump will try to make the SC right wing for decades. But Dems have a chance at getting back the presidency and the Senate. With both houses they can do so many things. Bye bye filibuster for legislation. Hello long needed changes to strengthen our social safety net. Except that their logic seems a bit faulty about what would happen later. The Dems would pack the court because the Rs are doing whatever the hell they please and it matters not to the Rs what the Dems do anyway. There are no rules to the game anymore. Gloves are off.
