In September 2017, The New York Times reported that Barrett was a member of a small, tightly knit Charismatic Christian group called People of Praise;[68] members of the group swear a life-long oath to one another and are assigned a personal advisor (a "head" or "handmaiden") that gives direction on important personal decisions.

This is incredibly troubling and I'm a Catholic and registered Republican (but not a Trump supporter).

Go after her religion in the hearings- see how it works for you.

You mean go after her cult? Cults are bad. Especially if they have the word "handmaiden" in them.

He needs to let the next President decide the nomination. If he doesn't, it will tear this country apart.

Doesn’t answer the question...

Vote. People need to vote for the lesser evil.

I see that the same dark money that was fluffing for Kavanaugh is paying for this new whackdoodle, too.

This is the Republican world view. Our Founding Fathers had a different world view- that politicians were opportunists but that ambition would check ambition through the balance of power implemented in three branches of government.

This is the Democratic world view. You think you are pure and honorable, that the other side is corrupt and evil. But the truth is, we are just two peas in a pod. You are not the angels you think you are and Republicans are not the devils you caricature us as.

Again, I'm not a Democrat or a Republican. I'm a Christian. Christians keep their word. McConnell needs to keep his.

Oh please, you Christians can't even agree on the content of the Bible, stop holding your religious beliefs up as if it gives you some moral authority. It does not. Your morals are as relative as the rest of us, you just don't realize it because your thought leader told you that you are special.

Correct. The Bible condones the killing of babies and children- fetuses and all.

Scriptural truths

Ten biblical episodes and prophecies provide an unequivocal expression of God's attitude toward human life, especially the ontological status of "unborn children" and their pregnant mothers-to-be. Brief summaries:

• A pregnant woman who is injured and aborts the fetus warrants financial compensation only (to her husband), suggesting that the fetus is property, not a person (Exodus 21:22-25).

• The gruesome priestly purity test to which a wife accused of adultery must submit will cause her to abort the fetus if she is guilty, indicating that the fetus does not possess a right to life (Numbers 5:11-31).

• God enumerated his punishments for disobedience, including "cursed shall be the fruit of your womb" and "you will eat the fruit of your womb," directly contradicting sanctity-of-life claims (Deuteronomy 28:18,53).

• Elisha's prophecy for soon-to-be King Hazael said he would attack the Israelites, burn their cities, crush the heads of their babies and rip open their pregnant women (2 Kings 8:12).

• King Menahem of Israel destroyed Tiphsah (also called Tappuah) and the surrounding towns, killing all residents and ripping open pregnant women with the sword (2 Kings 15:16).

• Isaiah prophesied doom for Babylon, including the murder of unborn children: "They will have no pity on the fruit of the womb" (Isaiah 13:18).

• For worshiping idols, God declared that not one of his people would live, not a man, woman or child (not even babies in arms), again confuting assertions about the sanctity of life (Jeremiah 44:7-8).

• God will punish the Israelites by destroying their unborn children, who will die at birth, or perish in the womb, or never even be conceived (Hosea 9:10-16).

• For rebelling against God, Samaria's people will be killed, their babies will be dashed to death against the ground, and their pregnant women will be ripped open with a sword (Hosea 13:16).

• Jesus did not express any special concern for unborn children during the anticipated end times: "Woe to pregnant women and those who are nursing" (Matthew 24:19).

It sounds like it is going to be most feasible for the GOP to run this through in the Lame Duck session.

If Biden wins and the Senate turns, then all should make it clear that if the GOP forces this through in the Lame Duck session, that the Democrats will:

1) remove the filibuster
2) amend 28 US 1 to allow for up 15 justices on the supreme court;
3) pass statehood for DC and PR (if they want it)
4) Pass universal healthcare (since the ACA is effectively dead anyhow)
5) pass legislation overturning Citizens United
6) Pass legislation standardizing electronic voting and mail in voting standards
7) tighten all of the ethics loopholes the Trump administration has exploited

I am sure there is more, and some of this should happen anyhow, but Mitch can try to get his one SCOTUS appointment through at this juncture, but the will of the people will have spoken, loudly and serious reform and modernizing will need to happen.

DP. I am a regular (but former) Republican voter and political moderate. I hate the Bernie end of the Democratic party. But I don't think they are actively trying to destroy the country like I believe Trump and his grifters are.

+1 same here.

If you honestly ascribe evil intentions to people who hold different political views than you, you were never a Republican, just a lost Democrat. Which is a difficult thing to do, but yet some how you did it.

PP here. Too bad. The Republican party is a travesty now. It has lost me and many people like me.

My thought exactly. Would someone let him know. Wouldn't it be stupid for him to believe a reporter?

Fake fake fakety fake. Reality show President.

lol, I knew he knew. He'd fire his aides if they didn't tell him before approaching reporters.

Me too. Up and down the ballot. I vote them all out now.

Biden should just announce that he will nominate Garland. . If Mitch goes ahead with his deceit then Garland becomes the tenth justice. It restores balance, fairness and the institutional legitimacy of the Court and Senate Frankly, 5-4 decisions are bad for the country.

That's the healing move though. The what's good for the goose is good for the gander move is expanding the Court since there are no rules any more.

That's just foolishness. The only thing worse than a 5:4 decision is a 5:5 decision.

The healing move is to let the next President decide the nomination.
