The sense of entitlement kills me where a few people decided that since they live in the NE and bought property there they can now force the school to stay there or bus their kids because it's convenient to them but yes let's keep saying that this outrage is for the sake of diversity and sense of place in the community. Give me a break, LAMB can relocate to wherever they want and is your choice as a parent to follow them or find something else.

Spare me your venom. We had no idea summer camp cost money. There are many low cost options for summer camp in DC if your income qualifies, and summer camp is reduced for farm kids.

Buses will happen. You better like the feeling of that boot on your neck because they WILL happen.

LOL Jajajaja I think that the one who is spitting the venom is you. Poster makes good points, why no comment on diversity test scores and camp? What are farm kids? If the buses WILL happen as you say then why are you so worked up? You get your pretty bus and we get our beautiful campus in Ward 4, everyone happy right?

Actually you all seem to be worked up.

I would be if I were you. Enjoy the zoning board.

So tired of the threats and the enraged language. If the buses will happen and the board has committed to it as you say then that is the end of the story, why are you so angry? The school was always based in Ward 4, SD was always a rented building with a lease expiring in 2020, eventually your kids were going to end up in Ward 4 right? I don't get the anger and the threats about letters, testimony, zoning board, boot on your neck, etc, etc. I don't care about the bus or the move, I make the choice to send my kid to LAMB for now and will go to wherever they go. That is my choice, if your choice is to get a bus system implemented that is great but please engage in respectful discussions instead of nasty threats. If you are so angry would you mind channeling that anger towards ensuring that the victims of the sexual predator and the ones responsible for covering up the rumors and allegations are punished?

Thank you for this! Exactly. No one who genuinely cares about and understands diversity is going to use terms like poor blacks. In addition, "poor blacks" and everyone else who is any class (not this reference to lower middle class whites and poor diverse families, what the heck!), wants their kids to have a quality type private education in a public school. That is the whole point of a great public school - to provide an excellent education not a second class education. And Lamb is doing that well for so many families, as evidenced by the meeting tonight. And we are all going to follow Lamb to beautiful Kingsbury, even if it makes our commute difficult. Sorry if one bitter family posting here cannot make that work.

So many people are angry at the LAMB administration (for a variety of things) right now. I imagine only a few of them are downright vehement, But please, everyone, try to remember and honor the great community that we are.

And let's keep the sexism and racism to a minimum, thanks.

You mean Cristina and the Board?

The whole plan gets scrapped if the school can't convince the zoning authorities to DOUBLE the zoning for the school from 300 to 600 students. And the existing school there has to find new space. And acceptable lease-to-own terms have to be reached. I also don't see how the school can afford this. Even if it comes together, they would be phasing kids in from the existing campuses over several years (no plan yet on how this will happen). Kingsbury right now is just the admin thinking it's a nice building and paying an architect to mock up a new layout. No real steps have been taken to make it happen.

Were you at the meeting? Did they agree to shuttles? what's going to happen to current kingsbury students?

I don't see how they're going to avoid paying for shuttles. They seemed to commit to them at the meeting, and I think it will happen.

This is false. The commitment was to form a committee to look into the shuttle option.

That was not my understanding. Or are they once again good to lie to families?

Seriously, relax. I am not opposed to buses and neither is any lamb family that I've encountered. It is just a matter of time investment and proper planning. Hope you can make it happen.

Then your understanding was wrong. Don't blame admin.

Yes I was at the meeting.

Several parents from Wards 6 and 8 spoke up in favor of shuttles. Other parents from Ward 4 were against it -- because they won't benefit. The Biard said it would be discussed, but didn't sound like they really backed the idea. There was a weird class divide, with Christina and some minority parents talking about gentrification as a negative while white parents were asking for help getting their kids to school.

There was mention of current Kingsbury students being able to stay for several years before LAMB moves in. But it's just talk. No lease or even a letter of intent has been signed. Kingsbury is a goal, not a right or a plan yet.

PS -- car pooling was also mentioned as a possible travel option by Diane. Translation: you all can figure out transportation yourselves. I think the pro bus/shuttle people are going to have to agitate for help. The Ward 4 boosters seem to be in control and do not care.

FYI. We are a prospective Kingsbury family. They say they are selling and they will lease back space from LAMB for several years (up to 6). They have approx 130 students enrolled now.
Anonymous
I knew it! LAMB administration actually "consulting" parents about potential move before "official" discussions began with Kingsbury sounded too good to be true and not in line with how the administration has acted in the past.
