| Well they can enjoy having families in wards 6, 7, and 8 leave and getting some lovely testimony on how their focus is families that are white and wealthy. I will ensure that my comments about this are on the record. |
There are 2 and soon to be 3 existing campuses, with MO the original. They had only be SD as a destination while WR was in the works. It has always been known that SD was temporary until WR was done. Which is why they only did a limited time lease at SD, soon to be up. |

Any one location in Ward 5 would be hard for a lot of families.
Any one location in Ward 4 would be hard for a lot of families. For us, Ward 5 for the rest of the LAMB experience would probably be a dealbreaker. But we live far away from South Dakota - I never imagined going there for longer than two years. And even then, I thought we might leave the school if it came to that. LAMB admin needs to stop changing their minds all the time. People are buying houses based on those plans! |
Lease is up 2020. Not 2018. It's been known for years that Missouri was too small. Prepare to have a massive fight on your hands if they move the campus too far from wards 6, 7, and 8. |
Why not somewhere somewhat central? |
SD was always a lease. WR and MO are owned by LAMB. This stuff is knowable - caveat emptor. |
Right. It's always been clear that they wanted to get the Upper elementary to Walter Reed. And there was lots of back and forth amongst the admin about keeping SD even after WR was done, but now that so many Ward 5 families (and 6,7,8 too) attend there, they can't close it. Right now, at least. |
from a June 2016 report: The majority are Ward 4 residents (49%), followed by Ward 5 (20%), Ward 1 (12%), Ward 6 (6%), Ward 3 (6%), Ward 7 (3%), Ward 2 (2%) and Ward 8 (2%) http://www.dcpcsb.org/sites/default/files/report/LAMB%20PCS%20Review%20Appendix.pdf so almost a majority! Hence the reason a location for the whole school over by SD would be hard for (almost) the majority of families. Not saying they won't do that, but that has to be a significant consideration in their decision. As a Ward 4 family, we would probably do it, but it might also make a decision to leave the city all together that much easier. |

Here is where lamb students live:

I would leave the school and hope they tell us before May 1st. |
But not a majority. And moving to ward 4 would make 6 7 and 8 have a several hour commute. |
For the same reason that you can't have a gigantic house that's brand new with all the amenities someplace central. Cost and availability. |
That map doesn't show actual numbers or concentration of students. Wouldn't the actual statistics above be a better marker for where students live? 49% in Ward 4 is a pretty definitive number. Which must mean there is a lot of concentration to those dots in Ward 4, much less so in Ward 5. |
And the wait list is how long? They don't really care. |
| They need native Spanish speakers for the model to work. There are many more Spanish speakers in NW than in NE. |
