| I love it how some posters are all about diversity and inclusivity when it suits their cause but there was no outrage when the summer camp became a paid camp and effectively displaced all the lower class poor diverse families that depended on it and whom now can't attend because they can't pay the fees. Where is the outrage when reports state that diversity kids are scoring less than the white kids at the school on tests and when diverse kids are disciplined in different ways than white kids? The sense of entitlement kills me where a few people decided that since they live in the NE and bought property there they can now force the school to stay there or bus their kids because it's convenient to them but yes let's keep saying that this outrage is for the sake of diversity and sense of place in the community. Give me a break, LAMB can relocate to wherever they want and is your choice as a parent to follow them or find something else. |
Spare me your venom. We had no idea summer camp cost money. There are many low cost options for summer camp in DC if your income qualifies, and summer camp is reduced for farm kids. Buses will happen. You better like the feeling of that boot on your neck because they WILL happen. |
Ha! You need to tone down your racism. Buses will happen. The board has committed to doing it. |
| Are all LAMB parents this insufferable? |
NO. ALL schools have about 10-15% who can be this insufferable. Especially when given an anonymous platform. It has been a rough year for LAMB. The sexual assault case brought a lot of legitimate issues with the administration to the surface, and this proposal comes in the wake of that. |
Lots of lower middle class people are living in a fantasy of going to a fancy private. They'll do anything to make that happen, including name call and kick out "undesirables". Best of luck with that. The optics look amaaaaaaaazing. |
There seems to be one super shrill entitled parent. She is forgetting that Kingsbury is closer to Ward 6 than Walter Reed. And she wants us all to subsidize a bus for her kids to get picked up due to the extra 10 minutes it will take her commute. |
Sure. If you want to pin this all on one person, than sure. It will be an unpleasant surprise for you when you wake up to the reality of the amount of opposition. Best of luck. |
LOL Jajajaja I think that the one who is spitting the venom is you. Poster makes good points, why no comment on diversity test scores and camp? What are farm kids? If the buses WILL happen as you say then why are you so worked up? You get your pretty bus and we get our beautiful campus in Ward 4, everyone happy right? |
Actually you all seem to be worked up. I would be if I were you. Enjoy the zoning board. |
Shrill is an incredibly sexist term. In a 1926 survey about talk radio, a ratio of 100 to 1 respondents preferred male hosts to female hosts. Women, these respondents complained, sounded “shrill” and conveyed “too much” personality. Ninety years later, and the battle rages on, word for word. Many unapologetically vociferous male politicians and pundits have lately said that Hillary Clinton’s raised voice during speeches somehow registers as, yes, “shrill” and simply “too much https://www.google.com/amp/amp.timeinc.net/time/4268325/history-calling-women-shrill/. Reporting this post and expect an apology. |
That's a pretty shrill post too. |
| My impression from the meeting tonight is that Kingsbury is not going to happen -- or, if it does, it will be many years before kids are actually attending. The whole plan gets scrapped if the school can't convince the zoning authorities to DOUBLE the zoning for the school from 300 to 600 students. And the existing school there has to find new space. And acceptable lease-to-own terms have to be reached. I also don't see how the school can afford this. Even if it comes together, they would be phasing kids in from the existing campuses over several years (no plan yet on how this will happen). Kingsbury right now is just the admin thinking it's a nice building and paying an architect to mock up a new layout. No real steps have been taken to make it happen. |
Camp is a sliding scale based on income. Wtf are you talking about? |
|
This is not the LAMB I know that is being reflected here.
So many people are angry at the LAMB administration (for a variety of things) right now. I imagine only a few of them are downright vehement, But please, everyone, try to remember and honor the great community that we are. |
