School residency cheaters investigated

Because the poster is lying. If you have seen the PK3 classes at LT you would know that half of the class isn't 50% AA. It is more like 30%. The PKs at LT are overwhelming white and in-boundary families.

The original article is full of lies! "D.C. school graduates also get in-state tuition to any public college in the nation."

Would somebody please fact-check that nonsense? OMG, if that were true, EVERYONE who wanted in-state tuition for their out-of-state student would be beating down the doors to live in DC and happily pay DC taxes to do it. Imagine if you could get in-state tuition for New York or Texas or Michigan by living in DC. Alas, somebody has no damn clue what DC TAG is or how it works.

(On the off chance the idiot is me, and not the asleep-at-the-wheel editors of Daily Caller, and that my children actually DO qualify for in-state tuition anywhere in the U.S., please correct me immediately. I'll apologize profusely and buy you some nice and incredibly overpriced donuts from Barrack's Row along with a bottle of champagne. Just say the word.)

The problem with removing rental and utility bills is that it would likely prevent undocumented immigrant children from getting an education and they are a vulnerable population. I am not sure how many of DC's undocumented immigrant population would be able to get government benefits sufficient to prove their residence.

Then these undocumented citizens should take it up with the people in escalades and infinitis that have ruined it for the rest of the class, literally. Anything people can abuse should be taken away.

I cannot think of any jurisdiction in the united states that has documentation procedures in place that would prevent undocumented immigrants. The debate is that if they are here, you want to integrate them and not create a perpetual underclass of non-citizens like in some European countries. Also studies show that early intervention preschool is the best way to create productive members of society through learning soft skills such as eye-contact, negotiating, showing up on time, and following directions.

Really, universal preschool should expand funding so that society/parents are not fighting over the crumbs of taxes leftover for the next generation.

Honest question, what is wrong with a perpetual underclass? Not like we don't have one now with a couple of different levels. All people are not created equal and lord knows all adults aren't. Who do you want to pick our strawberries, fight our wars voluntarily and serve us food? Document the exaisting underclasses and give them a hard but consistent road out and sit back and enjoy a disproportionate amount of resources. Not only is it the American way but by posting here it is a strong indication that you are enjoying the fruits of the system that you decry. The only real variable is if we are honest about it and if we honor the way out once they put in the work. But without a path a revolt is likely.

And you keep enjoying your IPhone and two cars while pretending you actually want merit based equality even though you're clearly below average intelligence. Life is about winners and losers and part of being a winner is setting the rules and sitting back and watching the uninitiated scramble to play fair and their descendants look for apologies. After all nobody really goes to see the Washington Generals show.

The sad thing is, you think you're a winner, you really think life is something to "win," and you will attempt to impart that kind of fake Machiavellian bs to your offspring, should you ever find a woman willing to breed with you.

The other sad thing is Mr. Rodian's wedding registry. You can Google it yourself, but it was really depressing.

Maybe what's wrong with a "perpetual underclass" is that the feds and SCOTUS say local schools cannot deny education to undocumented immigrants.

http://wsbt.com/news/local/special-report-why-undocumented-immigrants-are-allowed-in-local-schools

""In June 1972, the Supreme Court issued Plyler v. Doe, a landmark decision holding that states cannot constitutionally deny students a free public education on account of their immigration status. By a 5-4 vote, the Court found that any resources which might be saved from excluding undocumented children from public schools were far outweighed by the harms imposed on society at large from denying them an education.

"For thirty years, Plyler has ensured equal access to education for children regardless of status, but anti-immigrant sentiment continues to threaten that right. States and localities have passed measures and adopted unofficial policies that violate the spirit—if not the letter—of the Court’s decision."

What's wrong with a perpetual underclass? Are you a recent immigrant from India where they have one? Because if you tell me you've got irish or Italian ancestry, I will laugh and ask why you think my ancestors let yours into this country.

Katie Watson, graduate of Viola's journalism program, is apparently quite proud of her Christian faith. No doubt, the Jesus proverb, "suffer the small children to come to DC" factors large in her commitment to the task of uncovering this story.

Viola also looks like a fine institute of higher learning, if you'd like all of your higher learning to be accompanied by Bible verses and a Christian slant.

Why don't you report these nefarious multiple property owners to OSSE and get on with your life? You come on all these residency fraud threads bitching about "rich" Asian and white address cheaters you want busted. Enough already. I own two DC properties but am hardly rich. I bought the first place during the last Barry administration, for around 10% of what it's worth now. But I'm AA, so I get a pass from you, right?

My kids are way too young for me to know all the details, but I read something once about this and here's what I found on-line:

This thread sounds to me like some MD residents with children enrolled in DCPS are getting nervous.

Universal preschool and pre-K are great, but why should DC taxpayers shell out to provide free pre-K to children from Prince George's county? This is especially the case when PG has underinvested in education while spending profligately on stupid projects like casinos and when fraudsters from MD basically cheat DC kids out of scarce spots.

Why not take your argument one step further and ask why waste the spots on black kids who parents don't pay much if any taxes all while 1/2 of those kids aren't going ever finish school anyway only to end up in jail. Come on I can almost read it between your lines racist

There you go again, trying to play the race card. (One might think that you're one of these MD residents and are getting nervous with all of the attention on this issue.)

MD needs to educate its own children, as does DC. DC has enough fiscal and social challenges without taking on the additional burden of providing free education and day care to students whose families don't live in the District. Can you get that?

only sensible comment on here!! nero fiddled ...

Unfortunately, DC is a first world city that seems to have third world levels of fraud and scamming, particularly in things involving local government, government contracting and government services.

Do you think the DC Coucil will engage on this and follow through with requiring the OSSE and DCPS to feret out those parents enrolling students from outside the district? Is this really considered felony fraud as was stated in one of the articles? If so, why no jail time? Why aren't wages garnished for those found guilty?

Enough with the school snobbery. A reporter who cut her teeth on the night shift at police court usually has more hustle and results than three 'journalists' who walked off the Harvard Crimson.

While I'm enjoying this thread, the one on MOTH - where people are not annonymous has been equally entertaining.
