Who cares what her hs education is. She would be at any HBCUs. |
| It might be NYU after all, according to press reports today. |
blah choice. the best film maker currently in the game is chris nolan. went to ucl. film school is overrated if you are good, creative, and are connected. MO is the latter. she would've gotten her shot no matter where she went to school. why not get a broad and strong education at a stanford instead? |

There was a segment on the Today show on this topic this morning. Not too illuminating, though.

| Now the reports are focused on NY. Columbia, Barnard, NYU. |
| Barnard = Columbia |
Hoping she choses Spelman College She doesn't need Ivy for undergrad. Mainly matters for grad. Spelman would be a great place to round out her experience. They also have a strong recruiting record from Sidwell and other quaker schools.
|
Not exactly. Columbia is significantly more difficult to get into. Not that it really matters for Malia! |
She's not going to Spelman; she did not even look at Spelman. Ii think she will definitely go to a top school even though she does not "need" it. The press would dissect the decision and some people would wonder why she opted against a top school. I think she wants to go to school in NY, but we'll see if she ends up there. |
She's a Pro Era fan - she wants to be in NY so she can be with her boo, joey bada$$. |
Idiot. Not her. You. |
These reports that have her focusing in on NYU and Columbia have been an interesting case study in the media echo chamber. There was an AP story that talked about all the schools she's visited, including the NYC schools. Then one of the online gossip sites rewrote that focusing exclusively on the NYC schools and throwing in stuff about her interest in film. Then it got picked up by an NY TV station saying she's coming to New York. But the reality is that there has been absolutely no actual reporting saying that her interest in NY schools has or hasn't changed since her visits to Yale and Brown earlier this fall. |
| That's so true. Still, I think her interest in NYC is genuine, but Brown and Yale are the only schools she visited twice. |
| Stanford. She seems to be following Chelsea Clinton's path. |
|
Hopefully she is charting her own course.
