I think Hampton is better

my bet is Bowie State. Or Coppin State.
My bet is you have a GED but more likely in middle school.

Someplace better than where anyone's kid here goes, that's for sure.

Do you think she'll date more whites or blacks in college?

I can't imagine her mother would tolerate her going out with a white boy.

You sound like a very nice person.

Because her parents are graduates of Columbia, Harvard and Princeton. I'd expect anyone's offspring with those credentials to be Ivy League material.

My parents have three Harvard degrees between the two of them. The real ones, not the Kennedy School stuff. I was not Ivy League material. My sister was, however--albeit at a lesser Ivy. But I had to settle for a top 25 public school.

Wait, what? Please inform those of us not in the know about this sort of thing..why is Kennedy School not consideted a "real" Harvard degree?

HKS is a LOT easier to get into than HBS, HLS, or HMS.

HKS grads are very very very different than the other three (though there are certainly grades of the other 3 that get degrees at hks but that's not who i'm talking about)

Don't know about the med school, but the B-school is much easier to get into than the law school. My brother got into HBS with a completely undistinguished college/work record (3.0 GPA, lowerling at a trade journal for 2 years after). B-school and K-school seem pretty similar to me (ditto Ed school). By contrast, HLS drew people with top grades and scores; I assume that the same is true of the med school.

From a college admissions legacy standpoint, "real" Harvard = College. And only your parents count these days.

that's true the last statement that is.

HBS is a LOT harder to get into than HKS.

But yes, HLS and HMS is definitely much harder to get into than HBS.

After all, JFK was a notorious womanizer who dragged his feet on civil rights and his brother approved bugging MLK's hotel rooms. He bought elections and palled around with pals of mobsters. And talk about white privilege!

Yes. They are going to call it the Buddha School.

Was your brother accepted to the full-time business school in Cambridge? The part-time, executive, and week end programs are really easy to get into. Full-time -- not so much.

Both her parents went to grad school at Harvard. I'll bet she goes to Harvard.

That word didn't leak about her getting into Harvard or Stanford early makes me think she's waiting to hear from Yale or Princeton

She's probably the last kid who needs to apply early. She's likely to get in wherever she applies, so why not go regular and then take her time to make her choice?

If you apply early to HYPS, it's not binding. Why wouldn't she want to go ahead and get an acceptance under her belt before the holidays?
