Perhaps he's in one of those remote, tribal areas of Pakistan. I hear there are alot of people hiding there.

Unbelievable.

Anyone know the status of the St. Columba's matter? Specifically, is the teacher who is married to the sex offender still working there? If so, who is the teacher? My son will be going to the school in the fall and I am deeply concerned about this. Thanks.

Even better idea -- call the school.

What if the school has caller ID, and then OP is blacklisted from all schools? You know it's what we all secretly fear about making these calls.

Call from a payphone. This link is to the appeal and is a pdf document :

Yes, the creep filed an appeal and the grounds included that him playing ping pong naked was CONSENSUAL with the 11 year old child. So, if the spouse is still working at that school I would not trust my child to her -their care and custody. If the woman is divorced that is another story. As you can see from the Janney letter to parents DCPS was direct even naming the guy prior to conviction.

Public Schools are much more extensive than private schools when it comes to credentials and background checks. I work at a private school in DC and only in the last year after an unpleasant situation - similar to that of Beauvoir's did the school begin checks. Don't be fooled by big tuition - private schools usually don't even have HR departments and this is not where they spend their time and money. Things are changing however and more schools have had to take precautions much like public school.

Didn't something similar happen at Beauvoir between a male teacher and students back in the 1970s?

20:33 is so correct on the HR department issue. I have been affiliated with two very selective private schools and that is definitely not where they spend their money, especially in the lower schools.

As an applicant, how do you find out about background checks, etc? I don't even know who my children's teachers will be next year yet.
Thanks.
