Well, I certainly HOPE children aren't reading DCUM.

If we do not have all the details we probably should not discuss this issue. It is very senstive to the school and community. If there are parents with questions or even future parents with questions I would suggest you call the school. Private schools are not immune to issues so it is very naive for us to think this way. Call the school if you need information rather than speculating about the event. |
I'd be surprised if the school provided "the details." The only info we get may be from this site. |
Sensitive to the school??? I would hope you mean that innocent children have been abused. |
Absolutely horrific. My heart goes out to Beauvior children and parents. |
Just wanted to note that the Subject Line of this thread is a little disturbing - although I am sure OP did not mean it to be that way. The emphasis here should of course be on the possibility of the abuse of children rather on potential "scandal". |
Why is it that some "adults" on this board are so free to slag each other off all the time? Do you speak to your child/children this way as well my dear? |
You could be discussing the flavor of ice cream and it turns into a verbal tussle. There just are really nasty people out there. |
Please can we get back to the topic. Was the child on the camera an un-related (the the teacher) Beauvoir student? This is frightenting. If yes, how did this occur, how did the teacher get the child alone and in a private enough place to do something like this? |
sorry - that was supposed to be (to the teacher)... |
I would love fro this to get back on topic as well. Does anyone know the exact details? |
Isn't it much worse???? |
CALL THE SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!! ARE YOU GOING TO GET EXACT DETAILS FROM AN ANONYMOUS BOARD. FIND A BEAUVOIR PARENTS IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND ASK THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM MORE THAN SURE THE SCHOOL SENT SOME TYPE OF CORRESPONDENCE. |
Very good question PP, and one that I would like to know the answer to. I am not a current parent, but based on my research (not the message boards), the school it at the top of my list for the upcoming fall application season. It would be a deal-breaker for me if teachers have private access to individual children in a setting where they are able to take compromising photographs. |
No. To the best of my knowledge, St. Columba's knowingly had a teacher (and father of a student) work there who had a husband who was an ex-teacher who was a CONVICTED REPEAT OFFENDER - a sexual predator who was himself a teacher AND a policeman. And they didn't tell parents until their lawyers found out. We put our children in these people's hands and trust them to have some judgment and to protect our children. I'm not even sure if this Beauvoir story is true; but in St. Columba's case, they were really playing with fire. I would never, ever send my child to a school that didn't have enough common sense to ensure my child was safe at school. |
