Woodward/WJ are likely to look like somewhere in between current WJ and Einstein when it comes to student test scores.
I am predicating it because you got to add couple of DCC elementaries to WJ/Woodward. One whitman elementary can be also added to WJ -> One BCC elemntary moves to Whitman --> One DCC elementary moves to BCC |
For Woodward: Kensington should be split between Einstein and B-CC. Absolutely no reason to be going to WJ from Kensington especially with a new high school opening even closer. Woodward can take north of Tuckerman and off of Montrose like Luxmanor and Garrett Park.
For Crown: All of Crown, everything surrounding Crown (Rio, Diamondback), maybe a portion of King Farm, maybe small portion of Gaithersburg that goes to NorthWest can go to Crown. No reason to touch Wootton district TBH. |
Literally across the street from Crown is now zoned for Wootton, so yes it will be touched. |
I live in the Quince orchard and did not think of that but I was referring to stone mill Dufief and Travilah mainly not having to be switched |
If ES boundaries aren't shifting, then some of the weird islands under discussion (like the Tuckerman Lane apartment/condos/townhouses where one building is Ashburton/NB/WJ and further down the street one side of the street is KP/NB/WJ and the other is GP/Tilden/WJ) may get stuck with a split articulation for MS or HS. Proximity for these favors Woodward.
|
It will probably be bulk WJ students as its a smaller school and WJ sizing. |
Einstein is already overcrowded. There is no space. |
Why are there schools that are not included in the boundary study? If you care about using all your capacity, and not having to devote huge capital to building new schools, wouldnt you want to be sure to use 90-95 percent of your inventory?
If Sherwood, Paint Branch or Springbrook are not at full capacity, it would seem those boundaries need to grow to fill available seats. Any seats MCPS fills in those schools impacts the boundaries to their west and south. I dont understand why every school isnt being included in the boundary evaluation. |
This would make Kensington the only incorporated Town in MoCo with split clusters. |
Maybe so, but the incorporated cities of Rockville and Gaithersburg are split between clusters and seem to get along OK. What is the specific problem with the Town not all being in one cluster? |
Who cares re incorporated or not. Bethesda students go to 1 of 3 HS already. Woodward would make 4. |
Not happening, unless Woodward is filled with DCC students. |
I'm not sure we should be building two new HS with the demographic cliff coming. |
Bethesda is not incorporated. The point is the community within an incorporated town often want their collective students to attend the same schools, whether you agree with that or not. |
but that is not happening today -- see GHS and RM. |
