All houses within the Town of Kensington proper are assigned to Kensington Parkwood ES, North Bethesda Middle, and Walter Johnson HS.

Makes me wonder if any boundary re-assignment would need to re-assign all of the homes in the Town of Kensington or if the homes could be split to different clusters.

They aren’t. Some are bcc.

Some within the Town of Kensington are BCC? Or do you mean some within Kensington are BCC?

Town of Kensington is Walter Johnson. Other parts of Kensington are bcc and some maybe Einstein?

Yes, just south/east of the TOK is BCC, and just north/east is Einstein.

Fairly certain every residential home with the formal town of Kensington is WJ. Key part begin the town of Kensington, not Kensington at large.

The formal reason is that the BOE in 2000 decided to include all of the TOK within the WJ cluster. There's an interesting discussion in the minutes, pages 5-9:

Thank you much.

Some Einstein should be shifted to BCC.
Kensington should be shifted to Einstein.

Broader Kensington or town of Kensington?

Kensington should be shifted to Einstein.

That would see Einstein and the other DCC schools remain overcrowded relative to the other schools in the study. More likely:

Some Einstein shifts to BCC.
Some BCC then shifts to Whitman and/or WJ (having been relieved by Woodward).
Kensington, other than Einstein or Wheaton walk zone, go to Woodward with other portions of WJ (and maybe other portions of Wheaton).
If Einstein ends up with capacity, shifts from the east (Blair/Northwood) can be made.

Why does the boundary study state that it won’t affect elementary schools when elementary schools may be moved to a different cluster?

It's that no elementary school boundaries will be changed. Only MS or HS boundaries will change.

Because moving an elementary school to a different cluster doesn't change the elementary school, the kids and neighborhoods for the elementary schools will still be the same. Your middle school or high school assignment may change but your elementary school assignment won't. Hence it's just affecting middle and high school.

I don't think the Wheaton walk zone includes any part of Kensington, town or otherwise.

Some Einstein should shift to WJ, specifically the area closest to Beach Drive. I’d then move TOK within walking parameters to Einstein. Some of Einstein may go to Wheaton also.

Students in that area are currently walkers to Einstein. I don't think they'll be rezoned.

Add 2 elementaries from DCC to WJ and Woodward.

Adjust BCC/Whitman boudaries a bit.
