All council members will be at this meeting. If you have thoughts on how all of this is going or what the members should ask, you should write to them.

No they won’t. Only 3. It is a committee worksession.

Council members not on committees go to other committee work sessions all the time. They’re all going to this one.

Based on what I've read here, McKngit seems determined to investigate this matter with transparency and integrity and hold those responsible to account.

Do you really think this woman would put her job on the line for him… He is a dime a dozen and from what I hear he had been trying to get into a high school for years. I think they were trying to get him out of Farquhar to end the witch hunt but it only made it worse because no one wants to see a black man move up.

She is one of those responsible—what is she planning to do to hold herself to account?

That doesn't seem accurate. This was going on long before her tenure. At least she's trying to clean this up unlike her predecessor.

How was she trying? She did nothing until the Post exposed what was going on. She had notice before article was printed and did NOTHING.
That is all on her.

That's not true at all. Just because she doesn't publicize these issues doesn't mean she isn't working night and day to address this and hold those responsible to account.

She promoted him. What are you talking about? His bad behavior didn’t start under her tenure it continued under her watch and SHE promoted him despite that. There’s no way she’s not culpable.

+1 Promotion from MS to HS principal is a pretty big deal, and Dr. McKnight thought he deserved that honor despite a serious history of sexual harassment, inappropriate behavior with students, and hostile work environments.

Moreover, McKnight had served as Deputy Superintendent since 2019, so it's not as though she arrived from out-of-district and inherited a problem employee. She was part of the system that protected him, part of the system that insisted complaints not be read unless they arrived on exactly the correct form, and led the system that promoted him.

^
THIS is the elevator pitch case for McKnight’s “resignation”. Dawson should join her.

Exactly which principal has done worse than the guy with 18 sexual harassment claims against him?

I wish people would read correctly. It is not 18 sexual harassment claims. You all just want to make this out to be some sexual scandal.

Are you saying it is *not* a sexual scandal??

Left alone, the Board and Dr. McKnight will announce a series of changes, Dr. Beidleman and the head of compliance and anyone else the IG digs up dirt on will be gone and things will move on. Maybe they’ll get someone to run investigations who knows what they’re doing and this won’t keep happening. Watch for an exodus of principals this year. Who wants to be part of a system that makes you look sleazy? Whether Dr. McKnight had all the details or not, she should have known and put a stop to the behavior. The principals will tell you this was an open secret for years. Dr. McKnight rose through the ranks as a AP and principal with the current principals. She had to have heard stuff. Doesn’t matter if it was consensual either, it’s still against the rules.

Umm the public supervisors the Board. They are the elected representatives by the citizens of MoCO.

The State Board can hold MCPS accountable in real time, which is what’s needed right now because we can’t wait for the next two elections to elect a board majority that will put new leadership in place. Otherwise, the county council can make the BOE uncomfortable by holding funding to MOE until changes are made but that will hurt the teachers more than the board.

I wish you understood the legal definition of “sexual harassment.” You don’t.

Actually, the bullying and harassment were trimming behaviors consistent with a sexual predator. You need to educate yourself in the new definitions of sexual harassment in Maryland post #metoo.
