Board: We know who promoted this abusive horror, we know who ignored the many complaints, and why and how this happened (because MCPS tends to ignore anonymous informal complaints and even sometimes formal ones). And we're going to do exactly nothing about it. MCPS will "self-correct". The same MCPS who tried to sweep the Damascus locker room rape case under the rug until the victim's parent called police? Shame on the Board. |
Key players need to be removed immediately for supporting and promoting predators, period. Teachers have begun a class action lawsuit so it’s just a matter of time until the entire system under McKnight comes crumbling down. |
this will be dragged on and on. who does the super report to? who oversees schools at the state level? they need to clean up shop at so many levels. |
Where have you seen the class action news? That would be great because it would make this harder for MCPS to bury. |
For two other (different) CFP's I'm familiar with, the old board, including Silvestre and McKnight (at least in documents they've seen and/or signed themselves), turned a blind eye to potentially criminal allegations made since at least 2018. It's ironic that now she's paying attention since WaPo seems to have caught them? The issues with MCPS run really, really deep; from teacher-level through the board and beyond. I would also look into judges who may have connections to MCPS. I hope the IG does a good job turning over the rocks - I think there's a lot there to uncover. |
Hi Alexandra and Nicole,
I hope you will go back and look into all the other existing “informal” or anonymous complaints against folks in MCPS that have never been investigated or that have been inadequately or improperly investigated. MCPS waits it out and sees if complainers go away, then decide what to do about a situation, which only protects the problem people, not the victims. |
MCPS lawyers are just paid too well. Victims on their own have no power here. They're not rich enough to get the best lawyers and pay them not to give up. |
+1 There’s so much left to uncover thanks to the lack of transparency from Silvestre and the Board for the Biedleman situation and similar “investigations” including formal, informal, and anonymous complaints. Investigations in MCPS protect the abusers. They have a predetermined outcome that the complaints are not substantiated. However, there’s never transparency as to the evidence. Often, when not anonymous, the complainant is left exposed for retaliation. MCPS does nothing to protect victims. MCPS is still trying to play a shell game with the evidence. Are the IGs now investigating? Is Jawando and the Education Committee ok with the lack of transparency and accountability by the Board? |
What does “CFP” mean in this context? |
It’s ironic this was released while Farquahar had their BTSN.
|
Wow, did not realize this! |
Hi, Alexandra here. Folks can email me these via my website or at robbinsbooks@gmail |
So how do we find out the names of key leadership who ignored the complaints?? If the public doesn't know, then we can't hold MCPS or BoE accountable for firing these people. |
That’s exactly what I’m trying to understand. Is this because the firm was hired by MCPS? If the IG investigates is it still confidential personnel info? |
The super reports to the BOE. The state superintendent (who's been having his own problems lately) and state BOE oversee at the state level. |
