When backwards people get scared they quickly revert to type. They never really supported gay people or their rights. They just convinced they could tolerate if it so long as no one was “shoving anything in their faces” that could get in the way of them jamming the rest of their backwards religious agenda down our throats. Sure, gay people have rights, so long as I don’t have to serve them at my for-profit business. Etc.

This isn't "Republican trans panic."

What you are seeing is pretty nonpartisan. Or, bipartisan. People from all backgrounds and politics are tiring quickly of the push to condone the trans lifestyle. And, yes, condoning it is what is expected. There is no space for anyone to speak out against it..... you will be canceled, shamed, banned and possibly even arrested.
The best thing that could happen is to have LGB without the T.

You missed the data upthread that Republicans are souring on LGB too, not just the T.

So are Democrats. You missed that little detail.

Because that detail is a LOT littler among Democrats.

If there is one thing we learned during the pandemic, is that democrats are willing to sacrifice the wellbeing of children in order to not look like a MAGA. So they are just slow on the uptake, but it’s happening.
Even some gay pp pages back mentioned that the T is causing bad juju for the LGB community.

The LGB community was one with the TQs until the LGBs started getting erased by their compatriots. Now that the TQs have declared that lesbians can have penises and gays can have vaginas, the whole definition of homosexuality has been thrown out the window. Ha ha! Next add kids/bathrooms/hormones/puberty blockers to the mix and you have the perfect recipe for a GOP battle cry. It's truly a popcorn-worthy trainwreck to behold the absolute chaos the TQs have created.

Don't take my word for it. It's all over youtube.

Contagion? Maybe. You don't think children will take cues from what their parents push?

What exactly is the endgame here? To have half tbe population LGBTQIA? Tell me what the goal is, so I can know when we've arrived. Just WTF is it you want?

A TV or movie character is not going to make someone gay. Jesus. What is wrong with you?

The gay agenda when it comes to Disney movies is that they can take their kids to see it when it comes out. Maybe item 2 on that movie agenda would be not letting their kids talk them into spending $75 at the snack bar. This is if after the gay agenda items of grocery shopping, and carting their kids around to various sports.

+1000 to the bolded. It will no more make you gay than watching Lassie turned anyone into a collie dog.

You guys are both reading below grade level

The PP’s point was that maybe it isn’t a coincidence that both children of a lady wholeheartedly devoted to LGBTQIA+++ issues turn out to be gender nonconforming.

Pansexual is not “gender non-confirming.” It has to do with sexuality, as the name would indicate.

I know other families with more than one queer in them. I’m bi, and so is my child. She did not know I was bi until I started dropping hints after I saw a text between her and and her friend about her sexuality. I didn’t make my child bi. She is who she is.

I had to look up pansexual - just sounds like bi, no?

anyway, PP's specific point aside (I am not PP and it wasn't my point), I personally know families with multiple kids who are gender nonconforming, but only in very liberal schools, and the parents aren't trans

personally I find social factors much less likely in sexuality because you have to put your money where your... never mind... but in the case of gender it seems completely obviously possible that when environments are more welcoming (see I'm using the nice word) towards gender configurations that don't really require any initial commitments in terms of new behavior.... you will get more kids opting in to those

which is all totally fine as far as it goes - kids have probably been trying out identities since Jesus rode dinosaurs - BUT in the particular case of trans, there's a danger that kids who are just trying to figure out what works for them will be "affirmed" right into lifelong medicalization by what I'm sure are well-meaning adults

none of this means there aren't trans people who know it early and stick with it for life

but it's a complicated topic

Well, you are strange. I don't worry about this. At all. And it is weird -beyond weird- that you worry about any of this.

And your statements implying that movies can influence half the population to be LGBTQ is shockingly, and disgustingly, ignorant. Not to mention bigoted.

Educate yourself, will you? Before you actually discuss your views in public.

Hello! Why do you say they want to be left alone while they are begging to be seen, heard, tolerated, accepted and validated?

Asking to be left alone and asking to be seen and acknowledged are not inconsistent. But, your posts (and the +1 before this) are consistent with those statements of someone who thinks their clever but, in reality, are just ignorant douche bags.

Our politicians bring some issues to the forefront for shock-value purposes. The primary agenda behind many campaign strategies is continually reminding the sheep of why they should fear the awful other side with the end goal being to prevent voters from shifting from reliably red or blue to possibly swing voters. Political messaging that targets keeping the sheep in line is just as important as the messaging geared towards recruiting swing voters. Most of us are sheep and some of us are swing voters but all of our votes are targeted with carefully planned political messaging campaigns that are very effective at using fear and shock-value to woo voters. Fox News, MSNBC and the likes align their messaging to the messaging coming from the base of the party they are in bed with to make it very difficult for American voters to step outside of the political bubble that encapsulates them.

What you say may be true, but it has been my observation that the push back on the trans agenda is not coming from politicians.
It is coming from parents whose children are being forced to participate in pride activities in schools. It is coming from consumers who want companies to stop with the virtue signaling in trying to sell their products. And, it is coming from sports fans who want to keep the whole Pride push out of the sports arena.

I agree for the most part but it does seem as though Desantis is exaggerating some of the questionable aspects of the woke/LBGTQ agenda to stoke irrational fears. Both sides have inflated and distorted what's right and wrong with these types of social agendas to stoke fear for political gain.

The actions DeSantis has taken is a direct result of parental concerns about the crap that was appearing in schools.
It started with parents.

Yes, MAGA parents

WOW. Amazing. I personally am fine with gay marriage, but this is an eye-opener. Not just what he says (!!) but how completely different, forceful, and sharp he was. Can't even fathom him speaking in this way on any topic now.

And November is National Veterans and Military Families Month. That's two whole months, plus Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.

What is the November Pride month?

LGBT History month. Discussed in schools.

I wasn't going to expend the energy to respond to that, but I'm glad you did. I think Americans would be thrilled to simply live and let live - gay people are completely mainstream now. For some reason, the LGBT community REALLY loves to draw attention to itself though. Very curious.

DP. The PPs are absolutely correct. My gay sibling lives a perfectly normal life, very similar to my own life. The last thing this sibling wants is the extremist branch of the LGBT community making everyone in the community look like needy, attention-starved freaks. Too bad the "loud and proud" faction has to ruin it for everyone.

The 50+ year old gay couples I know live lovely, retired lives. They garden and walk their dogs in the suburbs. Nobody in their neighborhood gives two sh** that they’re gay. This is the life they fought for in the 70s and 80s and now they just want to enjoy it and be treated like everyone else (which they are).
