Hogan won't win a Senate race in Maryland.

Wishful thinking for the GOP.

He has said he’ll caucus with the GOP. Maga.

Why wouldn’t he caucus with GOP? He’s a Republican. He was recruited by McConnell. He’s anti-choice, pro corporate tax cuts. The only reason Hogan seemed “moderate“ is because Dems in the MD house and Senate kept him from implementing horrible right wing policies.

I agree he’s not a culture warrior except he’s anti-Choice, but who knows what he would’ve implemented had he thought he could’ve gotten away with it.

Anyone who thinks that Hogan’s going to have a moderating effect on the GOP Isn’t dealing with reality.

TLDR: A vote for Hogan is a vote for Senate leader, Ted Cruz/Josh Hawley

Precisely. Hogan obviously isn't a wild-eyed crazy person like Hawley, Cruz, Vance or Tuberville. But he'd give those people power if he gives the Republicans the majority. He'd probably be kind of like Romney or Collins. He'd sometimes criticize the crazies and Trump, but when it comes down to it he'd vote along with them for the extremist judges, tax cuts for corporations, national abortion ban, etc.

If he votes for an abortion ban, his career is over.

We won't have to vote for an abortion ban. He can vote to revive the Comstock Act.

A literal interpretation of the Comstock Act would criminalize sending and receiving shipments of any materials necessary to provide any kind of abortion care without exceptions, although it would be practically impossible to enforce.

HIS VOTES DON'T MATTER. HIS MERE EXISTENCE WILL GIVE GOP MAJORITY OF SENATE!

People really need to understand how Congress works. The party with the most people in either chamber is the LEADER. They decide what bills come to the floor, what oversight gets done in committees, etc. Even if Hogan was an extremely liberal GOP he would give MAGA the Senate Majority. And we all know the leader will be from the MAGA wing.

It is no longer (not sure it ever was) about INDIVIDUALS. It's about WHO holds the MAJORITY.

And yes, I'm screaming because it doesn't seem like many people here get this.

It would be like Prohibition. What would Dumpf do? Arrest thousands of suburban women? By the way, Comstock also includes porn, which has its highest usage in red states.

Arrest thousands? Sure, if they really wanted to. But more likely it would be applied to woman who the GOP doesn’t like: Democrats, Black women and poor women.

And how dear of you to still give the GOP the benefit of the doubt that the law would be at all applied to Republican men getting porn. This is about controlling women, not men.

So I do hope that people vote sanely and we can maybe put the GOP into the garbage can for good.

I know Hogan is popular and polling well; however, I do think that Montgomery, PG and Baltimore will revert to the mean and elect the D in the fall. Much of Maryland is highly educated and know exactly what voting in Hogan would do to the Senate.

No, they do get it.

The whites in western Maryland and Eastern shore don't want to vote for a black woman.

Don't worry: Montgomery, AA, Howard, Baltimore and its suburbs will carry the day for Alsobrooks in November.

Hogan might get 45%, if that much.

I think she takes Charles County as well. Everything depends on whether many of Trone's voters flip for Hogan.

There are two universities in that region, UMES and Salisbury. The students will not vote for Hogan.

Maybe. If you don't understand that there would be targeted investigations and targeted arrests for the purposes of embarrassing, harassing, and intimidating women advocating for their human and civil rights, then please understand that. And red state governments would fully embrace Comstock and probably enact parallel state laws. WAKE UP.

If you don't believe it - well, remember the 10 year old Ohio girl who was pregnant as a result of rape and who had to travel our of the state for an abortion? Remember how the right said it was all a lie...until it turned out to be completely true. Remember how the Indiana AG then opened an investigation into the doctor that provided the abortion.

https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2023/05/26/indiana-doctor-caitlin-bernard-reprimanded-in-ohio-girls-abortion/70259675007/

Remember how the general counsel of National Right to Life said that the 10 year old not only should have been prevented from having the abortion, but that she would ultimately understand it and would benefit from having the child?

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/07/14/anti-abotion-10-year-old-ohio-00045843

This is the reality and the future that many people in power want for you and your children. Why anyone would think this is something that just wouldn't happen is beyond me at this point.

I voted for Hogan twice for Governor but no way I’m going to help tip the senate to the GOP.
