2024 Senate Elections

I'm fascinated by this Senate race in maryland because I really though it would be closer than this -- Hogan was a pretty popular governor and he ran far away from Trump.

I also love that the ads for Alsobrooks at this point are literally just Kamala Harris sitting at a desk saying "vote for Angela Alsobrooks -- we're friends!" Those are coattails and I'd love to see a few other Dem Senate candidates ride them to a win.

I lean left but am voting Hogan because he was a good governor and the Republicans (and Dems) need more moderate representatives. If you never vote for a moderate Republican (or Dem) how is the party ever going to become less extremist.

Hogan will vote for an extemist majority leader. He will vote for extremists to be the chairs of all the senate committees. He will empower extremists.

He’ll be “moderate” like Susan Collins is moderate. There will be much hand wringing, head shaking, and gnashing of teeth. Then he’ll rubber stamp whatever the Republicans want.

I'm not sure why you think the Senate is a good place to try out this philosophy. I'd advocate starting at the local and state level.

You are voting for McConnell or his successor to be the next Majority leader, which means no moderate judges and no brakes on anything Trump does, should he win the White House. But lean left, sure, go for it.

Hogan has never been that moderate. He is a crook who hates immigrants though.

Hogan had no choice but to be a "moderate governor" because he had to work with Democrats. His less moderate impulses were tempered by the fact that the House/Senate are so heavily Democratic in Maryland. In reality, he is not a moderate. He's also not a MAGA crazy, but will absolutely support any Republican policies, including a national abortion ban.

This is about as conservative as you could get in Maryland. What we actually need are more moderate Republicans in red states, not the bluest of the blue states.

If Hogan wants to win, he should move to WV and campaign there. Despite the different labels next to their names, Hogan and Manchin are politically much more alike than different.

Do you really want to help Republicans get a majority in the Senate?

West Virginia doesn’t like carpetbaggers. They already had a guy from Maryland representing them in the House and voted him out.

For Wisconsin, this is truly brutal.

Crazy how many undecideds there are in MT for POTUS.

I will not be shocked if Tester holds off Sheehy.
