When are you going to stop wearing masks indoors (stores, etc)

Thoughts and prayers to all the maskers who will have to face the trauma of seeing everyone else throw their masks in a trash can this Spring.

Went to the gym and home Depot today w/o a mask. It's hilarious how far behind MoCo is.. literally in the same state people haven't been masking for a while now. People over across the river don't mask. Ink is for a fact that they haven't been masking in Delaware. Hell, I was even in Baltimore.a few weeks back and the bar was PACKED wall to wall with people and no one was wearing a mask. You all act like it is Trumpers not wearing masks..lmao, no....there are millions of blue Democrats not wearing masks anymore across multiple states and regions around you right now. It is a ridiculous DC bubble we got going on here.

Learn to live with covid and risks people.

Do you put on inflatable suits to protect yourself every time you go driving too? You risk death every single time you get into a car.

Um, now.

I picked up my kid from sports practice tonight and was the only one picking up not wearing a mask. Sorry, not living in fear.

I'll be going to the grocery store, a kid's birthday party and church this weekend too, maskless. The horror!

You do you, but please don't assume mask wearing people "living in fear". I find it super trivial to wear a mask in these quick errands (grocery, practice pick up), and would find a covid case and quarrantine pretty annoying. I'm not fearful, but the cost/benefit of a mask still wins to "mask" for me for some situations. For an evening hanging with friends, nope.

I will probably drop the mask at some point, yes, but might start wearing them during flu/covid season in certain situations.

Go to a less expensive grocery store. Very few masks in sight in Safeway or Giant.

Pathetic? Why do you care so much first PP?

I frequent the Giant at Groveton, Alexandria. Tons of masks still. Well over 50%.

I agree it's pathetic. These are adults who are so out of touch with reality and bought into "the narrative" that they're incapable of thinking for themselves. That's a bad thing. They should be shamed. And the people who caused them to become so frightened should be punished, especially those who forced this on our children.

People obsessed with other people wearing masks are pathetic. You need to seek therapy to manage your irrational anger at other people who are not harming you.

I feel this way about people who feel nervous about people not wearing masks in stores. We're not sick, we're not harming you, do what you want for yourself but your anger is irrational.

I am the person you are responding to and I see far more rage on here from anti-maskers. You are the ones starting all these endless threads and the same inane questions and spouting the same misinformation over and over.

Can we agree that a person yelling at a stranger about not wearing a mask AND a person yelling at a stranger about wearing a mask would be awful. But the small percentage of weirdos who would yell at a stranger in public is far from the majority of people who are posting here. Most people are just choosing to mask or not and minding their own business out in public.

DP. Given that so far masks rules have been widely imposed, especially in schools, I think it's kind of understandable that the "anti-maskers" would be more angry. You can mask until the end of your days and nobody will stop you, but so far people have been compelled to wear masks in many places.

NP -- it's understandable that they'd be more frustrated, but not that they'd be pitching hissy fits left and right. Swear to god, I'm pretty neutral on masks, I'll wear them when recommended but don't expect to wear them until covid-zero, but the rabid anti-maskers on this board/in school board meetings do NOT paint their cause in a good light.

I know conventional wisdom is that the dems are fAcInG a BaCkLaSh for the mask mandates, but I just don't see it. To me, the Dems look like the only adults in the room. YMMV.

What are you talking about? Dems have been leading the charge to drop the mandates. California, Connecticut, NJ, Illinois and soon DC.

It's over. You lost.

ut
I mean.... dems have been "leading" dropping mask mandates because republican-led areas haven't had them in ages, if ever. I think they are doing the right thing (not merely following politics/reacting to backlash), but they aren't really leading the way on this. They are working a path back towards non-emergency, at an appropriate time to do so.

It is difficult not to laugh at people wearing cotton masks or especially parents that have their kids wearing them.

“Tell me you know nothing about science/statistics/etc without telling me…”

But it doesn’t affect me so I just mind my own business.

This has probably said before but I've never worn masks outside when others are not close. Haven't gotten covid yet. I'm immuncomprimised and my caregivers and I believe my immune system will be stronger with fresh air without much covid risk

I’m a teacher whose district went optional last week. Thursday/Friday I didn’t wear my mask at school. Ran into the grocery store yesterday and didn’t wear it either. Look, if I went 2 years not getting it, through 3 surges, I’m not gonna get it. I’m ok without the mask now.

+1. Wearing a mask in a store or salon is just not an imposition for me.

Why do you care? You say covid is here to stay. For many people masks are here to stay. Learn to live with it or you are in for a world of disappointment.

That’s dumb logic. If you haven’t had it already (when everyone else was masking to protect you) you are going to get it now. You can decide you don’t care, but don’t be silly and assume it will never come for you.

I haven’t been wearing one in stores for a while now, but when I’m packed shoulder to shoulder with people at my kid’s basketball game for an hour…yeah, I’m still wearing a mask.

Your caregivers think fresh air is better protection than a mask? Who are these caregivers? Weird.

I’m so used to wearing masks now. KN95’s. I will probably keep wearing for stores. It’s still required for my work and transit.

- highly, highly vulnerable people (very few people)
- people who've had their germophobia awakened by covid. They operated pretty normally before, but now they can't unsee all the germs everywhere and are pretty freaked out by it all (even if the "germs" are benign and normal, even healthy for your immune health strengthening)
- insecure people who don't like being seen. People who don't want to be recognized (even though we can still recognize you with a mask)
- people who've made "masks make me a good person" their identity, and they don't know how to redirect being a good person to other areas - "a masker" has become a part of their identity
- people who are doing it because everyone else is doing it. I think this is the vast majority of people. Slowly these people will unmask and be the majority, but it's going to take time.

Nah. It is people who are immunocompromised or have family who are (lots of people, not very few as you say) and people who aren’t so sensitive that they are annoyed by a little mask. It seriously is no big deal to wear one. Only a problem if you are unable to tolerate any amount of self discipline. Wearing a mask in a store is much less of a pain than being sick for a week.
