I’d disagree that a parent coming from rec would have no idea of their kid’s talent level. With our oldest, we could tell they were pretty good and would make a higher level team. Our youngest really likes soccer, but I would say they are just OK right now. They’re one of the better players on their rec team but still sufficiently challenged by other good rec players. Not jumping into travel right now because they would probably get a third or fourth team offer. We will see what rec looks like next year when some of the better kids have peeled off to travel. Maybe lower level travel will make sense for our youngest if rec is no longer enjoyable or sufficiently challenging. But we would probably sign them up somewhere smaller and cheaper. I personally don’t think the bigger and more expensive clubs make sense if a kid is not within striking distance of the top team.

All clubs have rising academy - U7-U8. Most of the top teams on every club have been decided 90% and rest is filled with kids that stand out during tryouts

Can't believe u9 parents commit to 3k without knowing which team/coach when they could go elsewhere to another club and know what they are buying ahead of time. Kudos to Valor for talking people into doing it.

Probably an unpopular opinion but in general they should be more willing to move players between teams. Some kids put in work over the summer, even attending some camps and playing over the summer makes a difference at the young ages. The idea that you can't move kids up and down to not upset parents, just ends up upsetting even more parents.

We were clueless about travel soccer back then, but at the time they had at least told us who the coaches were going to be for each team level and how many teams they anticipated having. Not like what they’re apparently doing this year. We learned a lot and are not at Valor anymore.

Its wild. How many posts have there been on here with people begging just to know who the hired coaches will be for their kids team after they attend tryouts and get no deets? Nearby clubs post lists on their website like a normal business.

Why is everyone so pressed about who the non-1st team coaches are? Most clubs in the DMV don't have coaches listed. What are you going to do with a name? FB Stalk?

Nope. The kids selected for the U8 Valor Rising program are evaluated before being accepted. The U7/U8 Valor Lite Program which is a 1 day a week supplemental program while they still do rec.

That is FACTUALLY WRONG. A handful of clubs including Valor don't have coaches listed. The rest have almost all their coaches listed. I don't know why you keep trying to re-argue this and lie. At least do better with your lying. This is cringey.
