Wondering as well

Omigod Omicron
Can't wait till you are gone

Met a beautiful girl
A friend introduced her
We spent the evening in a whirl
But she didn't have a booster
So, though it makes me feel like a churl
I wish I had never seduced her.

Now I wish I had been chaste
And 7 beers I did not quaff
Since I have lost my sense of taste
And suffer from a persistent cough.

This is the best poem on here yet!

Right you were!
A number of the cities/states that seem to have seen omicron first (that is, noticeable jump in cases to record highs) are now past the peak--DC, MD, NY, NJ, FL, ...

The US overall either peaked this past week or will peak next week.
I agree with PP that I'm hearing about more people getting covid--presumably omicron--and it's unpleasant but not life-threatening. Here's hoping that as omicron recedes (which will take another month) we start seeing more normal life patterns return and solidify.

371 cases in MoCo today. It's probably due to reporting and the holiday BUT it's not 4 digits and something to be hopeful about!

Thought we needed to bring this thread back. Here is something I noticed on the VDH covid site today.

In FFX county, we are well past the omicron peak and our current case numbers are at what they were way back at the previous peak in Jan 2021.

And in spite of the huge number of omicron cases, our hospitalizations have NEVER been lower than they are right now.

I think we are at the beginning of the end...emic.

Great to see this thread pop up. Numbers in MoCo have just been plummeting - crossing fingers this holds and we finally can start putting the crisis stage of this in the rear view mirror.

A monoclonal antibody treatment that works against both current versions of Omicron has been given an EUA by the FDA.

Bebtelovimab is made by Eli Lilly and the U.S. has already purchased 600,000 doses, with it starting to be shipped to the states.

Love this thread!

The number of covid cases has more than halved worldwide over the last month!

Thanks for reviving this thread, it's great to share positive news...
