Well... those teams will win their conferences - BI the WCAC girls and SSSAS the IAC (Visi has a chance but its a long shot). AND more importantly, the top ranked national teams will have invitations ad opportunities to play in some tournaments that dont come to non-ranked etams.

Interestingly Visi and Stone Ridge had a very tight game yesterday, with Visi winning 10-9.

Once again Visi is not living up to its potential. This is not the first game they played this year that should have had a bigger spread. The issue with Visi teams used to be overly involved parents who were allowed to dictate to the coaches. I don't believe that is the problem now but don't know what is. Now, that said, SR is definitely a program that is trying to make a name for itself. SR hired a great coach away from Holy Cross last year and she is determined to make a name for SR in the lax community. There are some outstanding SR freshmen players but more generally SR has no where near the depth that Visi does. Very interesting...

The games between the top four teams were all very close this year. SR, Holton, Visi, and SSSAS were all 1-3 point spreads. It has made for an exciting season with no guaranteed winner.

Here we go again - delusional Holton parent coming out of the woodwork to insist Holton be party of the conversation. Holton wasnt part of the conversation above and doesnt belong in any conversation of top local girl's programs.

The only girls teams that are top notch in our area are SSSAS, Visi, and BI. For the ISL champs it will be SSSAS or Visi per usual.

Ha! You can’t guarantee anything. Clearly you didn’t see many games this spring. Visi, SR and Holton all have a shot of beating them.

Holton does not. SR doesnt really either. Only Visi truly has a shot.

Always with the excuses guys. There aren't any more "scholarships" in women's lax than in men's - there are very little money in getting recruited for lax period. Its about getting recruited - getting into a top college, and being wanted at a top lax program. Boys from this area have no where near the success girls do.

NP here, with no wish to put down either men's or women's lacrosse or any local program. I looked up the NCAA stats for lacrosse, and while it's true that the available scholarship equivalencies are about the same (12.6 for men and 12 for women), there are a lot more women's D1 programs than men's: 115 vs. 71 (Here's the link: http://www.scholarshipstats.com/lacrosse.html) That difference presumably is a direct result of T9, and does make it harder for men to get recruited.

There are 50% more D1 women’s programs, but aren’t men’s rosters 50% larger, resulting in the same absolute number of players?

I think that's hard to tell without more data, for D1 anyway. The chart says that the average men's team size is 44 vs. 30 for women. But it also says that the average number of scholarships given for D1 programs is 36 for men and 31 for women. Clearly there are more non-recruited walk-ons for men's teams.

1 Gonzaga 15-3
2 Churchill 0-0
3 Bullis 10-3
4 St. John's 2-1
5 Riverside 10-1
6 Glenelg 0-0
7 Howard 1-0
8 South Lakes 1-0
9 Landon 5-2
10 Robinson 10-2

New topic: With Bordley retiring, who is the best remaining head lax coach in the IAC and why?

Interesting question PP, I'd go with the Saint Stephens coach.

I think we will need a few more years of data before being able to tell. Preps coach is prob last. The bullis coach has been successful but it’s unclear if that’s more about recruiting. Sssa is a well coached team but needs to win some titles. Sta is intriguing but will need more time. I hear great things about the ehs coach but don’t understand why the team can’t put it together.
On a related note, I thought we were done with the douchebag landon defensive coach but saw him on the sidelines vs sssa.

So far this season:
Stone Ridge lost to Saints by 2
Holton lost to Saints by 3
Visi lost to Saints by 4

But yet, Holton and Stone Ridge do not have a shot but Visi does. Ok...

OMG I can't believe I really have to explain this ... 1. Visi has a far more impressive overall record. 2. Visi is nationally ranked by the experts who know best how to assess a team. 3. Visi has made it to the championship before so less likely to choke if they find them selves up against SSSAS. 4.Visi has a far deeper well of talent than either Sr or H. So, for a myriad of reasons - yes, Visi is best positioned to beat SSSAS out of the three.

St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes hasn’t lost a conference tournament since records began at least 21 years ago and are currently in first place. Georgetown Visitation has one league loss this year - to SSSAS. Stone Ridge has two losses - to SSSAS and Visi. Holton has gone 4-3 in ISL AA play, losing to all of the former, putting it in fourth place.

I agree that there is more parity in the ISL this year, and although no one has said this, the fact is, IT'S AWESOME FOR GIRLS' LACROSSE. All ISL girls are better for it. Stop with the bashing.

As a parent of a kid on a very strong ISL team, I can tell you that the historically good teams aren't bemoaning the growing strength of other programs -- we're relishing it. Bring it on -- our girls will play better in college for it.

No one is bashing the teams or girls - just the parents who get stupid on here claiming ridiculous things.

So, for example, saying SR can beat Visi or Saints is what has you worked up because it’s ridiculous?

We got it. SSSA will play for the title and the other teams are getting better.

I think you’re the one that’s getting pretty stupid. Chill out!
