Dear middle-aged women: capri pants do nothing for you.

I am older, wiser... and now live in an area where women are too fashionable for capris.

Happy 5 year anniversary, ye olde Capri thread!

I'm going to go order some right now, in celebration of the mid-calf!

I have to confess that I bought a pair after reading this thread. I love them.

59 YO male here. On the right body type I love Capri's.
Age doesn't matter, but I've seen many women in their 50's-60's playing golf in them and they look very stylish and appropriate.

There ya go, ladies. Wear capris and maybe you can snag 17:20.

I love this thread!
If I wear light weight pants rolled up a few inches above the ankle, does that satisfy the anti-capri fashionistas?

I love when a man tells me I look like a 60-year-old woman golfer. Dashing off to Chico's as I type.

This thread includes my all time favorite DCUM post (I work in a financial field):

"I'm pretty sure middle aged women wearing Tory Burch sandals and capris are responsible for the nation's financial meltdown."

I love how this thread pops up every spring, like a deranged daffodil reaching for the sun.

I went to an event today and many men and women in their 40s and 50s were in attendance. Most of the men wore polo shirts tucked in under their pot bellies and shorts.

Nearly all the women wore capri pants. Capri pants do nothing for you. If you are short, you don't look good in capri pants. If you are fat, you don't look good in capri pants. If you are tall, you don't look good in capri pants. If you are thin, you don't look good in capri pants. No matter the body type or age, capri pants are not flattering.

I say this lovingly. Wear anything else- anything! Shorts (long shorts, if you want to; even short shorts look better than capris), a skirt, pants, anything but capri pants. They make everyone look stumpy and shapeless. No one looks good in them.

Bullshit - you're enjoying your snide synopsis and relish reading the comments resulting from it.

I think that post falls into the category of faint praise, or maybe just a backhanded insult!

You're five years late...

What do we think about the Capri-length flare leg pants? My take = even worse than classic Capris.

Yes. Agreed. The flare just take stumpification to a whole new level.

Heh, heh. I think that some of you think that your bare legs look a whole lot better than they really do. If you are working out every day and your legs are rock solid you can probably get away with wearing shorts. But if you are telling yourself that you still have the legs of a 20 year old and are not working out - you are kidding yourself.

As far as skirts go - 9 times out of 10 those are being worn by pear shaped women who are skinny on top and big on the bottom. Flowy skirts cover and hide what they need covered.

Apples do better with fitted capris and a flowy top.

I have thin and long calves and ankles and capris look great on me.
