Dear middle-aged women: capri pants do nothing for you.

So i have to chime in- some people (me included) almost only wear capris. It depends on the cut. If you are reasonable thin and svelte, a narrow almost cigarette style capri is extremely flattering especially with a chic mule or ballet falt of some sort. Think of Audrey Hepburn with her kitten heels and capris!

The key is the taper. Trust me I have studied this look for years. I have it downpat. The fuller capris are a no go for anyone.

by the way when i say capri i do not mean right below the knee (not a good look for anyone) but right above the ankle can be super chic

I agree, but ankle pants are definitely not capri pants. Big difference.

Those are for two different temperatures. Only the top is for summer. I wear a lot of that style capris and it looks fine on that body type.

This thread makes me want to wear my capris. I'm ironing them now and ready to go!
Count me as a member of the "I don't care club"!

These look terrible, even on the model

Still! The coverage of my cellulite, and some of my uneven coloring and veins, make shorts very, very wrong on me (I wear them for exercise though).

Honey, I saw a ~26yo at an aquarium yesterday. She was in a shorts onesie. Very tight that you could easily see her shelf belly and underwear lines.

Basically my body.

She should not have exited the house in it. I could tell she was going for confident, body acceptance, fun. It was too much visibility. **this is why I don’t wear shorts**

Omg. These short onesie outfits are so unflattering. I keep seeing them too

I love this thread.

I’m 55. Athlete/former athlete. Olive skin.

I was known for my legs!! They are still as toned but the skin has changed—slightly baggy around the knees, a little ripple, and veins (never had such visible veins).

I don’t like showing my legs as much anymore. I wear capri length yoga pants to walk/workout in the summer instead of shorts now.

I prefer the ankle pants somebody posted over the tight capris

The capris look ridiculous- a Bermuda short would look better than those. They need to be slightly longer for that navy pant to work.

Agreed. The model has a cute body, and would look good in anything, but the pants are terrible.

And whoever is citing Audrey Hepburn... unless you have a BMI under 18 and are built like Ariana Grande, that look is not for you. You're delusional.

DP. Nope, they look great. Terrible are those wide, non-fitted pants.

I wear ankle pants year round. Light weight in summer, heavier in fall/winter. I never, ever wear capri pants.
