Dear middle-aged women: capri pants do nothing for you.

Those are for two different temperatures. Only the top is for summer. I wear a lot of that style capris and it looks fine on that body type.

These look terrible, even on the model

DP. Nope, they look great. Terrible are those wide, non-fitted pants.

DP. Both capris and wide, sloppy pants are terrible.

I wear ankle pants year round. Light weight in summer, heavier in fall/winter. I never, ever wear capri pants.

What kind of shoes do you wear with ankle pants in the winter?

They look pretty good if the background is Greece.

Capris are a summer compromise.

I don't want to expose my upper legs and knees by wearing shorts.

I don't want to be hot by wearing long or ankle pants.

I want to wear comfortable shoes that can go from walking around town to lunch to bike riding (so dresses and heels are out).

Capris are the compromise for me.

If the only way to be fashionable in summer is to avoid capris, then so long fashion. See you next fall.

+1
I've been confused by this thread for years and I did not realize there was a distinction between ankle and capri. I wear ankle all the time....

I'm 52 and continue to wear shorts even though my formerly great legs don't look the same anymore (veins, skin damage because I was stupid and tanned). Still toned and muscular but age has caught up. I hate being hot and am choosing comfort. If someone is offended or bothered by my aging legs it's on them.

Could somebody please suggest shorts to wear for those of us over 45 who are too hot in the summer to wear anything but shorts around for errands, kids’ ball games, etc., but definitely do not have model legs. Thanks!
