With Love, Meghan on Netflix

She does seem to GAF but she ain’t got a single skill - that’s the whole problem. She should take inspiration from Sandra Lee back in the day.

“I wanted to protect that safe haven,” she told People in an exclusive interview. “We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments — putting Lili down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day."

She continued, "Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family, and with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!”

While the series’ interior scenes were filmed in the farmhouse, a few scenes showcase the exterior of her Montecito house, including the backyard, chicken coop, and orchard.

Who talks like that about their nuclear family with kids 5 and under? “We’re a close knit family!” It’s strange, tense, and unnatural.

I think she’s trying as carefully as possible to acknowledge that her privilege allows her that slower pace of life, and kind of defending that choice a little bit. The examples she gives (eating lunch together, being the one to put baby down for a nap) are not available to a dual-income family with parents who travel all the time for work and outsource the majority of their childcare (and remember, her foil here is similarly privileged people making a different choice). But no matter what she does, doesn’t do, says, doesn’t say, she’ll get hate.

Okay but that's also what SAHMs have, and they don't call it a "close knit family." It just means you have a lot of time to spend with your kids and you enjoy and appreciate that.

I'm always a little leery when people self proclaim that they are a "close knit" or "tight knit" family.

Wtf lol. You people will find anything to complain about.

You’re such an angry little rube. You’re perfect for Meghan’s tips and tricks.

Wow. You really hate that people don’t agree with you about this. How strange.

I haven’t watched the show but maintain your response is outsized to any perceived offense of Meghan’s.

Exactly. It is fun, escapist tv. If people don't like her...don't watch. The hate is ridiculous.

It’s not an intelligence thing. There are many people who are otherwise intelligent that just can’t read people. In some ways, I think it’s a gift. Either you can read people or you can’t.

I can’t wait to try her one pot pasta recipe!

I love the show. What’s wrong with being kind enough to share your tips and beautiful style with the world. It’s so unfair to punish people who work hard and are successful. Trust me, being a wife and mom who also tries to look beautiful is not easy!

Exactly. It's like when Gwyneth Paltrow said something to the effect of "I can't pretend to be something I'm not" when people called her pretentious for starting Goop. She was right.

I like Meghan and will be watching this weekend.

Why doesn't everyone just give this race hustling narcissistic grifter tons of praise for her awful show nobody asked for? You're one step away from calling anyone who dates criticize her awful show a racist. Harry needs to divorce this bozo. She is a shameless schemer.

Fear of falling way behind in this pop culture zeitgeist, I watched Meghan’s show and Alec Baldwin show yesterday, just the first episode of each.

I was rooting for Meghan and expecting the worst from the Baldwins, so I was surprised that I had the opposite reaction:

I liked the first 10 min of Meghan’s show, where there was good music playing and the scenery with the bees was lovely. I thought if she stuck to that format, it could be a very relaxing type of show to fold laundry etc. but once she got into the kitchen, it was pretty cringey. Two friends praising each other earnestly isn’t interesting or engaging. She needs a gay assistant or someone more fun/lively to break it the vibe so she doesn’t take herself too seriously. I don’t think I’ll watch another episode.

I thought I would hate the Baldwins/Hilaria, but was actually really fascinated by their life in NYC with 7 kids. They put it all out there, the messiness and chaos, and Alec is just funny with his quips (though he looks utterly exhausted).

Also, the naturalness of Hilaria’s hair/makeup/clothing compared to how made up and stiff Meghan looked was quite jarring.

I will continue to watch the Baldwin show, but I feel bad that I find Meghan’s show unwatchable.

“It’s Sussex now”

“It’s about sharing a name with my *kids*” - no, it’s not, it’s about status striving, and bad job acting like it’s about something else. If the royal blood had been in the markle name, you can bet she’d still go by markle and her kids would take her husbands name.

That awful sweater over the shoulder look. It’s giving 1995 country club vibes and it’s so try hard. Awful. If that was her idea, it goes to show. And if it was her stylists idea, I’m convinced her stylist hates her as much as we do.

It’s just crazy that one person can be so inauthentic and virtue signaling… and just keeps trying to make herself happen. The fact that she thinks she’s the interesting half of her marriage underscores what a narcissist she is.

I blame the editor for letting that in the final product.

I think it was purposely left in. She isn't a a Martha or an Ina so these kinds of moments keep people talking about the show. All press is good press right?

Was really rooting for Meghan in the beginning as well, which tanked during Mexit and I lost all respect during the Oprah interview...that was truly shocking. I do think she is intelligent, driven, and pretty but that is all completely killed with her attention-seeking, very calculated behavior (no denying she is a micromanager- not for anyone's success but her OWN), and then plays dumb. I don't think it matters how strong your positive qualities are- you can be the smartest, most beautiful, ambitious, etc. person, but that level of narcissism is truly off the chain and really unattractive.

I do think, some of her image could have been partially redeemed if she had taken an extended break from the public eye (like, many, many years). Take Camilla, or Monica Lewinsky, for example. You may not agree with my opinion or what they did, but their overall public acceptance is much stronger now.

I agree with this. Most people love a redemption story. And the news cycle is fast. If Meghan Sussex took a break and re-emerged as a more authentic person, people would move on from her chaotic and narcissistic past. Heck I was even ready to give this show a chance. But after seeing the Mindy clip and the reviews, it looks like the same old Meghan that most of us are tired of.

Alec Baldwin is much more likable than Meghan. I think he is a smart and good person who has had some struggles in life which have humbled him and he has grown from.

I wouldn’t want to watch Hilaria or Meghan, but of the two, I prefer Hilaria because even with her grift, she actually seems less full of sh*t than Meghan.

Can’t comment on this thread until you watch it.

*And* I agree with you. So.
