I was taken aback because no one asked, he volunteered that and he seemed sincere about it. I’m glad he’s getting his steps in by walking around the school, but don’t mistake that for commitment to Navy. He was asked to do something and he did it. I would love to have Coch back or see Marotta promoted.

Probably in response to having to deal with AAP parents. I don't blame him.

Oh my goodness. Not everything is about AAP. Please brush off this big chip off your shoulder.

No chip. Navy AAP parents are pushy.

Could someone who attended the meeting post a little recap? At least the most important stuff? I wasn't able to attend due to lack of childcare (single parent).

We are all some variation of pushy but AAP takes the cake. Now who has updates??

I was there. Reid spoke for about 30 minutes and then the school board member, Stella last-name-I-can't-spell, took questions for a little while.

Reid was there to tell us she decided Coch can't come back. Rumor is he was told he was coming back up until yesterday. They met in April and he was told he could return then. Then she changed her mind based on his probation time frame. The principal job will be posted and then the new principal will help choose the new AP.

I don't think Reid won any supporters. No matter what you think of Coch, the communication has been non-existent and her attitude was "this is what I've decided and I don't need to hear what you think before making a decision." As one of the parents said, it could have been an email. It actually made me more irritated than I had been and now I don't like her. Parents felt like they had been patient and there was no recognition of that. Or almost that they had been taken advantage of because they weren't the crazy demanding parents demanding answers.

Not everyone was in support of Coch coming back, but the majority were. There are real issues with staff retention now, according to the teachers who spoke up.

Stella said, after Reid left, that the school board was told there was regular communication with the school community about the status. Obviously that wasn't true.

Now that's just messed up. Why even bother telling us this? How is this constructive? Basically we had a principal and she decided to change her mind and now we have... an opening.. So what should we do? Nothing? Email? Did anyone mention Marotta possibly staying?

I’m glad he isn’t coming back. It would be so inappropriate after what he did.

It's not like it was intentional

I was there and quite frankly shocked at how many pro Coch people were there and how they tried to say everyone in that room was pro Coch and wanted him to come back. I liked Coch but no, he shouldn't come back. Its time to move on. I wanted to hear more about the moving on part and less questioning about why they aren't bringing him back. I was glad a couple of parents spoke up and said that some of were just there for communication and to find out what actually was going on, and that we didn't even know exactly what this meeting was about until we got there.

No. He’s already accepted an AP job at another school.

Ok Sherlock Holmes...

?? Marotta is going to be an AP at Bull Run. That's a known fact.

Thank you! I just ignored the PP idiot who wrote Sherlock Holmes.

We are all privy to this so why restate it? They should promote marotta to principal instead of letting him leave to another school is what I meant. If you can't conclude that, then maybe you are the idiot.

You have no idea how the system works. Marotta is an AP. He is not in the pool of candidates to be principal. So no, he can not just be promoted to principal of Navy. Especially after he’s accepted a position at another school. Idiot.

The inner workings of FCPS's promotions are not common knowledge to everyone. You are the idiot for thinking that everyone must either work for FCPS and know this or maybe you have nothing better to do than read up on this stuff and gossip about it. The audacity of someone trying to put an idea out there that doesn't go with your rigid way of thinking...

For all you know, Marotta doesn’t want the gig at Navy.

The original principal left some big shoes to fill for sure! He was just the best principal. I hope he comes back after taking some time off for reflection and soul searching. Who is Marotta?

The best principal? Hardly!
