I'm glad we passed term limits last November on MoCo elected officials. Half of them will be out at next election.

The silence is deafening.

At least a word from the superintendent would be nice. Saying they'll review security measures at all schools. Review school policy of enrolling recent immigrants who do not speak English - an alternative school perhaps?

I was shocked to read that school administrators did their own investigation first BEFORE calling police. There's just so much wrong with that.
Poor girl didn't have her own cell phone apparently?

Really, you're shocked that the school administration did their due diligence before calling the police? Was there an extensive delay before the cops were called or did the admins listen to the girls story and look in the bathroom to see if there was reason to call? It would have irresponsible of them if they didn't.

Not knowing all of the details, it sounds as though the administration handled the situation as best they could.

There really should be no delay. A girl tells you she's been raped, you call the police. WTF. Do you want the principal going in to look for evidence? Tampering a crime scene? Maybe the custodian can go in and clean up a little to?

Call the cops immediately. Let MCPD decide what really happened.

Principals have no due diligence for a crime - that's for the police. They shouldn't go in there and touch anything or get distracted and whoops there's bunches of kids in there.

Yeah - how about for a kid with a gun. Is the principal investigating or are they calling the police and a swat team? This is no different.

If there's a gun, you go under lockdown and you call the cops. There's not much else to do. But if this happens during lunch, for example, in a large school, you're SOL, as there's no way to get all kids to safe spaces in a matter of minutes. We've had fights cause chaos where kids and staff members were trampled on.

Where did this happen? Is it reported? Cuz I'd rather push for smaller schools but we'd need every shrap of evidence in problems with large schools to do so.

The two students appeared to plan this out and execute it well. Was it their first time? Rockville High has some issues here. Lets see what if anything they will do.

We had gang fights weekly at my former HS. They often happened by my room, as it connected our wing to ESOL. Those who had "established" themselves by pissing on their territory resented anyone new coming into town. So the gang warfare that started in the 'hood continued in the school.

fun times

During that time, my daughter was in private b/c we lived in the area.

We've since moved, and she's in public. so far so good - But once the schools can no longer handle a growing population of challenging kids b/c the state prevents us from disciplining kids, both of my kids will go to private.

I will teach in the roughest schools, but i will not use my kids as guinea pigs to prove any point.

This is the shocking thing - the number of Public school teachers sending their own kids to private. I was thinking of moving to Rockville - so much for that.

Another MCPS teacher here, I won't name the school or area, but my children are in private school. But, I cannot afford Potomac, Bethesda or any other $600,000 home. DH and I would rather spend money on experience/education than fancy things (houses, cars. etc.) I absolutely believe that all children deserve a quality education. It's why I am still teaching in MCPS rather than going to private. With that being said, I will NOT allow my children to be a social experiment. MoCo parents have been sheeple (sheep people), I may get a lot of flack for this, and I don't care! The middle class has been led, by the affluent in the county to accept "diversity from poverty stricken places". Yet, these same people buy into the wealthiest areas possible or send their children to private school. Leaving the rest of us to fend for ourselves against the county board and politics. Before you get off on your liberal high horse and gallop off into Liberal Land, I am Black. I appreciate diversity and believe diversity is important, however, as other pp's have said, you can enroll in a public high school as long as you are 19 and under. I have had 18-19 yr old students in the ninth grade. Their parents pay coyotes to help them across the border to come to America for the opportunity. Unfortunately, while their parents are scraping by for opportunities for their children, the children could care less. I have had children from South American countries tell me: "I don't know why I'm here, I miss being in my country and I'm fine with joining a gang."

So what do these children do when they reach MoCo with limited school experience and English? They find people who think like them and join the gangs that they would have joined back in their home country. I don't agree that we should just take the younger children. I believe that would tear many families apart, instead, we need to deport families together and allow them to apply legally to be here as a family, just like my Ethiopian, Somalian, Caribbean, Tawainese and other Asiatic students. Families build strong communities, broken families equal broken communities. No amount of schooling, non-profits, churches or wrap around services can fix that.

Thank you. This is exactly what has happened to this county and I am white and live in Bethesda and my children have only attended private schools because of the liberal viewpoints of the public schools and their parent base. I have never voted democrat and have sat back and watch the county go to shit, I mean Bethesda is not Montgomery County, go to the MVA on New Hampshire Avenue that is Montgomery County. Yet people in other parts of the county do exactly what you purport when it comes to voting and this is the end result. I have sold my house and am leaving the County now, as have many of my neighbors. The "bad" diversity, and there is "bad" diversity, shoved down our throats by Leggett, the County Council and the voting base has destroyed the very best of this County. And now they rise when a low income project might be built in their precious Westbard and vote term limits. LOL. I think a little too late, continue destroying what used to be a wonderful place in America. I don't think this can be reversed.

Rockville City, and Montgomery County, are NOT sanctuary jurisdictions. That was pointed out earlier in this thread (ok, I know it's long) with an article where Leggett himself (county exec) stated that.

BS … they built in recent years with a million dollars of tax payers money an immigration processing center for illegals to make them citizens faster. This is utter bullshit, in fact Leggett made it clear a couple of years ago when Prince Wililiam County in Virginia cracked down on this and the illegals fled that they were more than welcome in Montgomery County. This is a sanctuary county and Leggett has supported that, so stop lying. And the people crying fowl about what is going on in the schools, you live here and you voted for this. You accept Obama drop shipping this unveiled immigrants into our school because you want to be a good democrat. This is on your hands, look what you have allowed to happen to this young lady and to our schools. Shame on you.

This! +1,000,000. Safety should be our community's priority first. Being a good democrat doesn't mean being stupid of a pushover. I plan on writing the BOE and holding the county legislature accountable. I am so glad that I voted for term limits despite receiving brochures from the League of Women voters to vote against county term limits. Just as parents in MoC are worried about the neighborhoods and schools they buy in, the county board needs to worry if they don't do the will of the people they can and will be fired.

"“Sanctuary jurisdiction has to do with your relationship to ICE,” Lacefield said, “not with what you say.”"

"Lacefield said Thursday the county cooperates with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement by providing the federal department with county arrest and detention information through the state."

"Lacefield noted that true “sanctuary cities” such as San Francisco or Chicago do not respond to ICE inquiries about who is in their jails."

I am a Democrat and that's why I voted for term limits. We need to get Democrats in office looking out for Americans and legal immigrants.

I agree with the teacher who posted earlier, the wealthy of Montgomery county have left the middle class and working class bear the brunt of the illegal immigrants. It's a huge issue.

He lived with his uncle in Lincoln park-he forgot the address. Don't most kids know their address by K? I guess it is different for 18 year old illegal alien HS freshmen?

Lacefield is only doing this now to protect federal funding should Trump go through with his promises. Everyone who lives here understands that the illegal community is embraced, protected and defended with a passion. Everyone.

I've never been to this website before (and never will again) but I discovered the police report here. This is devastating, I am crying after reading it.

This is the most disturbing thing Ive ever read. Ive been contemplating a move to Rockville HS cluster and if this is the kind of clientele that attends the high school, then I will not be pursuing area homes in that cluster. It is appalling what I just read and bizarre that kids of that age were in ninth grade and that kids with that mindset and behavior are in that community. For a housing budget in the 6's, thats what I would get in a community and high school??? No thanks!!

The larger issue here is that the same policy would allow ANY school in MoCo to accept these kids. So don't think RHS is the only place where this can happen. There are great neighborhoods with strong communities in this area. It's a matter of time before we see more and more of this incidents county wide if the policies that have allowed these perps into schools are not changed.

Exactly. And new development brings them because the "affordable housing" requested by the community to house their children is actually going to MPDUs.

As is Leggett, anything out of his mouth is to protect that funding.

I only wish this happened at a W school so that there would be more media attention and outrage-then again-18 year old illegal alien freshmen would not be attending a W school.

1. MCPD investigated and charged them. Most young girls don't make up violent rape charges like this. Judge held them without bond. Blood & semen found in bathroom.

2. There are news reports stating one was under an illegal alien removal order.

3. See #1.

Yes, they need due process.

Not so true any longer, I know a lot of people think this is true but I invite you to come to that area one morning and witness the number of children at Apartment and Condo bus stops that weren't there just two years ago. There is more low income housing and government subsidized housing in those areas than you are aware, it is just hidden better. This hasn't happened at a W school yet, but it most likely will given the change I have seen in the student body.

Why do you say that? Check out the growing number of new developments with MPDU requirements. Maybe next year?
