It is not happening. They're dragging people from vehicles for a face scan. They don't say a peep to anyone. You would not tell your 16-year-old daughter to comply with such a stop. Gutter trash. |

CHICAGO (AP) — A suburban Chicago father and his 1-year-old daughter were pepper-sprayed at close range as they headed grocery shopping over the weekend and happened upon federal immigration agents, the family said. Rafael Veraza said the incident happened in a Sam’s Club parking lot in Cicero on Saturday, amid escalating clashes that day between immigration agents and frustrated area residents. The suburb shares a border with the Chicago neighborhood of Little Village, a largely Mexican enclave that has frequently been at the center of a federal immigration crackdown that began two months ago in the nation’s third-largest city. Veraza said the family was in their car when they heard a helicopter and honking, common signals in the Chicago area these days that federal agents are nearby. They decided to leave. That’s when a masked agent pointed a pepper-spray gun through their vehicle’s open window and fired. A cloudy substance hit Veraza in the face, which also affected his daughter, according to a video taken by the family. “My daughter was trying to open her eyes,” Veraza told reporters Sunday, as his wife held their daughter nearby. “She was struggling to breathe.” He said they were not protesting, honking their horns to warn others or trying to interfere. A longtime pastor in the area, the Rev. Matt DeMateo, arrived at the scene to help and also recorded footage of Veraza struggling to open his eyes and of their daughter, Arianna, crying while her mother tried to comfort her. “A family, and I shouldn’t have to say this, but guess what? In that report Verazo says he did have to go to the hospital, with a heartrate of 263 The U.S. Department of Homeland Security flatly rejected the family’s account. “There was no crowd control or pepper spray deployed in a Sam’s Club parking lot,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement sent to the Associated Press Monday. McLaughlin's credibility is zero IMO. The people working in ICE enforcement under Noem have no concept of professional law enforcement conduct or their duty to law-abiding bystanders (even if you think they are justified in all their responses to protesters). I honestly believe the country is unraveling. People refer to the Trump administration as cruel--I think the right term is vicious. They apparently figured that with Project 2025 they could simply take over and their propaganda and lies would take care of the rest. |

His father in Korea sent him to the US by himself at age 6 to live with his mother. He came to the US as a green card (based on his mother's status). After being shot while serving in Panama (on the second day of his deployment) he suffered from PTSD but was not diagnosed or given any services. He was living in LA in an area where there was frequent gunfire and began using marijuana to sleep, then cocaine, was arrested for possession, then missed a drug testing date--which was considered bail jumping, which ICE considers an aggravated offense on the level of rape, murder, and drug trafficking (so no green card option) even though after a prison sentence and remained sober forever after that. He had a deportation order for 14 years but based on his military service, Purple Heart, sobriety, and paying a LOT Of money every year to maintain a work permit he had deferred action. All that changed with the Trump administration. He was not just working these days, he was carrying from his mother who has early onset Alzheimer's. ICE statement was that he had an "extensive criminal history including convictions for possessing, manufacturing, or selling a dangerous weapon, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, assault, and criminal possession of a controlled substance. " As to the weapons possession, he says his family's store burned down in the LA riots and was looted, and living and working in south central LA he would carry a gun and was pulled over one day. The firearm in public conviction came when he and military buddies were celebrating their discharge from the military. https://youtu.be/7hJ9-Lc5JIo (interview with him and his lawyer on Amanpour) his lawyer is currently in touch with prosecutors to replead the convictions that led to his deportation order in the beginning. I mean, ICE certainly could say something like "Mr. Parks was convicted of drug-related offenses related to PTSD resulting from his military service. Although he completed his sentence and had no subsequent criminal history, and although he complied with ICE requirements for 14 years, current policy is to revoke any past ICE decisions to defer action based on individual cases and enforce an absolute zero tolerance." This at least would be honest. (and more honest to say this is because America First means hating immigrants who are not Afrikaners). |
