Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
Did you see the post I was replying to? They said there was pictures of schools and bus loops. |
“How are the schools near you looking?” from 2 hours ago. Lots of pics and reports that plows are currently working. |
|
On Mocosnow lots of people have reported unclear lots and posted pictures.
Some of the schools named (and pictured) with unclear bus loops/lots as of late this afternoon; Oakland Terrace, Silver Creek, Argyle, Sligo, Greenwood, Glenhaven, Baker MS, Clarksburg HS, Greencastle, College Gardens, Pine Crest, Waters Landing, Weller Road, Brooke Grove, Cloverly, Rosa Parks, Beverly Farms, Dufief People posted pictures and those schools are a mess and this was just as of late today. |
I found one report (no photo), by the way, that was a blatant lie. I know because I live in the same neighborhood and saw the school myself. |
|
Someone asked for a teacher’s reaction. While I don’t speak for all the teachers, I’ll adjust to whatever they throw at me. Been doing it for years. I’ve got plenty to do with my students (high school) both in class and after school, but I know how to be flexible. And, it always gets done somehow.
I do feel bad for the winter athletes-they're going to have a lot of rescheduling. |
Go on Facebook. MoCo Snow and MCPS sites. A bunch of schools are not ready. Skating rinks |
What main post are those pictures under? I literally don't see *any* of them, even after double checking that I was showing all comments, not just relevant comments. |
There are lots of pictures posted under the thread, "How are the schools near you looking?" Scroll thru, there are lots of pictures, all from this afternoon/evening. |
| One must first consider that today’s announcement was later than previous announcements AND previous years. Is this a result of new superintendent’s influence? Today’s announcement clearly pointed out that reevaluation will be posted by 5:00 am. It also clearly spelled out what said reevaluation would be based on. Careful consideration was given to the wording of the announcement. As someone else mentioned, the door was left open for the possibility of a last minute closure and stakeholders be prepared. Just saying … |
| Olney Elementary School barely plowed, parking for maybe half the cars, and has 1-2 inches of ice where it is plowed. and more snow on walkways. |
|
What people don’t understand is the lots have to be clear so ALL staff cars can park. For HS with permits for students as well. Kids in wheelchairs need to be able to access sidewalks and ramps. We just live in a world that of isn’t accessible to everyone, it will be accessible to no one. Fear of suing etc….
This is what happens to huge county districts that sometimes get snow but can’t budget every year for top notch gear and removal services like the northeast can. |
Are you sure???? Why would they make the two hour delay with an unfinished parking lot? |
So name the school lol |
Parking will be a BIG problem since many spots won’t be accessible and parking on the street won’t be an option with all of the snow. |

FCPS forum is going bonkers right now with parents threatening to fire Reid and sue VDOT. Sigh. Same old, same old, every year when there's a snow event. |
