This is really about boosting the voting power of Evangelical, Catholic, and Mormon families, who are the base of the GOP. There's nothing pro-life/natal about this. It is simply a ploy to increase their power vis-a-vis their dwindling support in the population.

Vance was an atheist. According to Vance, his wife strongly suggested after marriage that he find faith and religion since she's a staunch Hindu. He decided to become a Catholic later.

Probably chose Catholicism because it's the new power religion of the right. Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Kavaugh, Coney Barrett, and Scalia before that, plus Fox people like Sean Hannity, et al. It fits, another opportunist career move for JD.

Haley would be real trouble for Dems and as a dem I wouldn’t be mad if she took over from Trump after 8 months or whatever he manages to stagger through.
