Conservative DCUM'ers: how far back do you want LGBTQ rights rolled back?

Could be that many normal people across the political spectrum are simply uncomfortable with a mental state that sets people up in opposition to their bodies, eventually leading them towards elective surgery and powerful drugs

Doesn’t mean they wish ill on people who struggle with it

But they sure don’t want their kids to think of it as just another fine option for a way to be, nor do they feel it’s something that needs to be publicly celebrated

When backwards people get scared they quickly revert to type. They never really supported gay people or their rights. They just convinced they could tolerate if it so long as no one was “shoving anything in their faces” that could get in the way of them jamming the rest of their backwards religious agenda down our throats. Sure, gay people have rights, so long as I don’t have to serve them at my for-profit business. Etc.

This isn't "Republican trans panic."

What you are seeing is pretty nonpartisan. Or, bipartisan. People from all backgrounds and politics are tiring quickly of the push to condone the trans lifestyle. And, yes, condoning it is what is expected. There is no space for anyone to speak out against it..... you will be canceled, shamed, banned and possibly even arrested.
The best thing that could happen is to have LGB without the T.

You missed the data upthread that Republicans are souring on LGB too, not just the T.

I'm fine with Jill taking those powerful estrogen drugs. I'm even wiling to call Jill a she/her. I'm NOT okay with my kid doing it though! In fact, I really wish Jill would stop walking around the neighborhood with her dog because my kid might catch the trans.

I wish posters would stop conflating conservatives with the GOP. The conservatives I know stopped voting for the GOP a while ago.

Our politicians bring some issues to the forefront for shock-value purposes. The primary agenda behind many campaign strategies is continually reminding the sheep of why they should fear the awful other side with the end goal being to prevent voters from shifting from reliably red or blue to possibly swing voters. Political messaging that targets keeping the sheep in line is just as important as the messaging geared towards recruiting swing voters. Most of us are sheep and some of us are swing voters but all of our votes are targeted with carefully planned political messaging campaigns that are very effective at using fear and shock-value to woo voters. Fox News, MSNBC and the likes align their messaging to the messaging coming from the base of the party they are in bed with to make it very difficult for American voters to step outside of the political bubble that encapsulates them.

What you say may be true, but it has been my observation that the push back on the trans agenda is not coming from politicians.
It is coming from parents whose children are being forced to participate in pride activities in schools. It is coming from consumers who want companies to stop with the virtue signaling in trying to sell their products. And, it is coming from sports fans who want to keep the whole Pride push out of the sports arena.

I agree for the most part but it does seem as though Desantis is exaggerating some of the questionable aspects of the woke/LBGTQ agenda to stoke irrational fears. Both sides have inflated and distorted what's right and wrong with these types of social agendas to stoke fear for political gain.

So you agree that this path is a mistake for some people

With permanent consequences

I agree that some people make a mistake and then say that because they made a mistake, everyone is making a mistake and they want to remove all trans people’s rights to transition.

Do you agree that some people aren’t making a mistake and that transition is right for them?

Sure

But if you think there’s no social contagion or influence you are just kidding yourself

I have family members w kids in school in very blue areas and the numbers and clustering of kids with gender identification issues is just amazing

I know people who are trans that have kids. Their kids aren’t trans. You’d think they’d have caught the trans contagion right?

Your logic is not very strong

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence

What the logic there’s a contagion then?
