Because of the reputation of the "pit bull breeds" yes there are bad actors who are attracted to the dog. But, if treated right than they will not attack. So, tough guys aren't going to look tough with a beagle or a golden doodle.

We need to crack down hard on these people. Throw them in jail for mistreating dogs. Fine them $$$$$

What are you throwing them in jail for? According to the other thread, tying up a pit bull and letting them bark all day in their yard is perfectly fine.

+1
But We JuSt DoN’T lIkE dOgS.

Find any facebook post or news post about a pit bull mauling or killing another dog or a cat or person. The comments are “it’s dog racism that you said the breed. You wouldn’t say the breed if it were a retriever.” Than pictures of their pit bull in pajamas. Then blaming the victim for existing.

Pit bull owners do their dogs no favors.

Cruelty to animals. Didn't you know this is a crime? Nobody said tying your dog and letting them bark for hours is ok. I am against that. But, if the dog is free in their yard as long as owners bring them in and they live inside than it is ok.

Michael Vick went to jail for dog fighting.

Why is the comparison between a doodle and an American pit bull terrier mix? Why not a Chow or German Shepherd? Cane Corso? Nope because you know that those other dogs can also be tough. Remember when those dogs were the "baddies?"

OK, I’ll bite (pun intended). Please share links with people being killed and brutally, permanently maimed by those breeds. You come to the table with your 3-5 links, and then we can posts hundreds if not thousands of pit attacks to stack up against yours.

Police do this every once in awhile before they quietly retire the pits with no fanfare. It's a well meaning tale as old as time but they inevitably fail as working dogs, often at the expense of great injury. So...yawn, good luck with that folks!

From your Belgian Malinois article: “David Fear was the first known U.S. fatality involving a Belgian Malinois, a breed closely related to and resembling a German shepherd, often used for police and military work.” There have been 46 fatal pit bull attacks in the US alone in 2023; I can’t even imagine how many there have been internationally.

From your German Shepherd article: that woman let her dog bite people five times, making her a crap owner who should be barred from owning dogs. None of his victims are dead.

And you had to go back to 2001 to find a Presa Canario caused death. That attack was heinous and both owners were held legally responsible for the fact that they kept a dog that mauled that poor woman to death.

Rottweilers are probably the next most lethal dogs after pit bulls, but I don’t see Rottweiler owners championing their dogs as police dogs or nanny dogs or emotional support animals. Rottweilers are not filling the shelters. Rottweilers are not roaming the streets and mauling people right and left.

What we’re left with is the fact that pit bulls are trash dogs and should be gently sterilized out of existence.

Give facts not just opinion. Not alternative facts. You are retiring this dog before his career takes off!

You guys are always moving the posts. You said find articles where other dogs have mauled or killed people and now you are saying that they didn't kill them last week. As if it doesn't count that the people were killed in 2001. Then you say pit bulls do no good and are trash so I find an article where the police are using them and they are doing a job protecting the community. And you say that they do this for publicity and that they will retire them.
'
No matter what I say you will never give us any acknowledgement that what we say has some merit even with evidence. Just so you know we are just as determined to fight you and we will never go away!

I don't think you know much about Rottweilers.

https://www.inquirer.com/news/new-jersey/akc-therapy-dog-shooting-national-award-uvalde-pandemic-hero-20221215.html

https://www.cbsnews.com/baltimore/news/loki-a-5-year-old-rottweiler-honored-with-dogtorate-from-university-of-maryland-baltimore/

They are excellent service dogs. They are also incredibly powerful dogs and should absolutely not be ownded by lunatics who want them for the wrong reasons. They are used as police dogs, not as often in the US partially because they are too big/heavy to be carried by their handlers. German Shepherds are lighter.

How many other breeds of dogs have EATEN humans, not just bitten them? There is something seriously wrong with these dogs, and with the people that would defend them. Even if we aren't 100% sure, why take the chance when there is so much evidence against them? They are frigging dogs....pretty low on the totem pole compared to our children I would hope. Just stop breeding them, owning them, buying them, and pick a different puppy for gods sake.

No, because even their layperson owners can control them, Sweetie. Statistically speaking, Honey.

What I would like to know is why when German Shepherds or any other dog attacks you blame the people who own them ( rightly so) But when it is a pit bull you say it's the dog's dna.

This cannot be true. Why not blame the owners for ALL attacks.
