When are Herndon Middle and Herndon High going to get a break?!??

Because none of the School Board members want to touch boundaries and they would rather spend taxpayer dollars.

They need to be more concerned about the overcrowding and less concerned about the demographics.

They also need to start spending time on education and less on social issues. Covering up problems is not going to fix them.

Yawn. These issues are not mutually exclusive.

I agree.

Fix the overcrowding and let the kids have more time in class and less time running to and from trailers or standing still in hallway traffic jams.

Laptops are one per two students. The cell phone ban was the best thing that happened at HMS (and any middle school in my opinion!)

I think the cellphone ban helped but it didn't stop what sounded like an organized group of students from throwing eggs and trash in the halls on the last day of school. Don't know if they caught the students responsible.

It's looking pretty good over at Herndon HS. I haven't been over there for a year or two.

When is FCPS going to wake up and help the students and teachers at these two schools??

*hint* It will involve standing up to the bully parents at Langley and Carson regarding boundary changes

just want to take it back to the original post.

---Are Langley/Carson parents causing an increase in FARMS in other pyramids

--- WHY are the test scores falling and is it a reflection of poor instruction or variables outside the control of the teachers? In any case how is that the fault of parents in a different pyramid.

---What help is Hernon requesting from FCPS that they are not getting? Apparently it's not an issue of enough special teachers, so what is it

---- pedophile teachers can and do happen everywhere. Unless there is proof that FCPS or the principal at Herndon is not conducting proper background checks on hires for that school while teachers are properly vetted for Langley Carson? And if so, is the accusation that Langley and Carson parents are bullying other pyramid principals and FCPS to hire pedophiles for Herndon?

---Who are the people who need to "stand up" to the "bully parents" in other pyramids and what exactly does that look like?

Ok - let's ask Carson parents who live near McNair which is just on the south side of the Toll road to see if they would like their students to switch places with Herndon students just on over the north side off the Toll road. Herndon high is much closer for them than Westfield or Oakton. How do you think that will go?

Yes, this is a great idea. How do we make this happen. It makes way more sense for these kids to go to Herndon AND it’s cheaper for the county. Win-win.

Tried that a few years ago. Neither South Lakes nor Herndon wanted them. And, they don't go to Oakton.

But, isn't Herndon already full?

DP taking it back.

Increased FARMS: result of policies in Herndon. You know, the people who live there. Elect different leaders.
Falling test scores: see Increased FARMS does not affect the kids who are not FARMS. Are the AP kids' scores also falling? Average scores are just that--if your kid is a good student, the kids who are not in their classes will not affect them. Most of the ESOL kids are likely in different classes. And, the ESOL kids who are in advanced classes are likely doing just fine.
ZERO aid from FCPS: doubtful that this is true. Herndon likely gets much mroe than Langley.
Pedophile teachers: can happen in any school. Period. Has even happened at Langley.

16:15 again

Bully parents? Because they want their kids to go to the school their older siblings have attended? Where the other kids in their community go? If they are such bullies, why in the world would you want your kids to go to school with their kids?

You mean the parents whose kids were redistricted to South Lakes against their wishes? You are calling them bullies. Suggest you go back a few years and see if you can find the videos of that redistricting.

Why should they go to Herndon? That makes no sense at all. Where would the Herndon kids go?

So if high FARMs is basically irrelevant, then you won’t mind if we bus them to Langley?

These are kids, not chess pieces. Why would you send them to Langley? They live in the Town of Herndon. I doubt any kids at Langley live in the Town of Herndon.

I can assure you there are many kids that live in Herndon who go to Langley.

Also, why do you care? You keep making the point that the FARM rate is completely irrelevant. So, none of this should even impact you.

Why are you trying to get rid of them?

If they are not causing your children academic harm, what exactly are they doing that you really, really, REALLY want them elsewhere?

Are they hurting your property values?
Are they a they a threat to your children's physical safety?
Are they a bad influence on their behavior?
Or do you just not want poor kids around?

Have you told the FARMs parents that you want their kids gone? I suggest you bring that up at the next PTA meeting.
