PP here and I agree! If creamed onions and rutabaga are your thing, go for it. We see enough fancy stuff at restaurants. Jiffy corn casserole is not on a restaurant menu, sadly!

!! The funny thing is that we are all pretty adventurous with food because of our various heritages and life experiences. We just really like traditional foods on Thanksgiving! Although I do always love seeing what other wonderful concoctions other people are making on Thanksgiving Day!

I think there are (somewhat oddly) two moms of 5 who frequently post the fact that they have five kids on DCUM.

One is the biological mother if all five kids, still lives in the DC area (in NoVA) & has not worked outside the ho.e since her oldest was born.

The other is the stepmother of some of the kids, was a SAHM for several years but returned to work when her youngest was in middle school, & used to live in the DC area but has since moved to Florida (& stopped WOH due to the move).

Both have grown/almost grown children who apparently were never allowed to behave as horribly as most DCUM posters' kids are allowed to behave.

This bolded one may be me, but I have six including the step kids. Two are in their 20's and in grad school and we've since moved out of DC but not to Florida, and I was a SAHM when my kids were little and went back to work part time when the youngest went to elementary school.

Yes, there is more than one. One of them very specifically lists out her kids ages frequently and I don't think she is very kind to struggling new moms on DCUM. The other one has some that are step-kids. They share a certainty about parenting that I recognize, as a child of a big family myself.
