Knowing that over 70 million Americans voted for Trump, how can you type your comment with a straight face? You may not like most of their policies, but try to not just spew absurdities.

Thank you for this excellent clip.
It exposes everything.

No problem.

I think the one thing most of us non elites can agree on is things like like this - where the super rich in this case are causing just the normal rich, upper middle class and middle income and lower income to get burned.

Literally.

If people could just understand this in the context of politics and how the wealthy elites control our rotten two political parties, we could make some progress.

I honestly believe that occupy wall street scared the powers in charge, and they shifted to making everything about race vs class so as to effectively divide everyone.

Whether it was intentional or not, the reality is we have devolved to a dysfunctional society due to an extreme division based on political ideology fueled by a negative narrative-cum-code of ethics tied to race.

This is disturbing on many levels—particularly since the real issue/great divider is money.

Socioeconomics trump race. Always have, always will.

If people would turn off cable news and boycott GOP and Dem candidates for one election cycle, most of these political problems would go away.

I think you are more optimistic than I am.

The reality is most people—including young people—aren’t watching cable news or following candidates directly. Rather, they get their information from TikTok and social media. They hear curated snippets aimed at manipulating the masses. I’m not being hyperbolic; if you have tweens or teens, you’ve heard the nonsense they believe as fact from TikTok.

Moreover, there are outsiders hell bent on disrupting our commitment to western values. With our societal values under attack to the point that large swaths of our young people have zero patriotism, we are in a very dangerous place.

So, no…I don’t think it’s as easy as turning off cable news. Nobody is watching it anyway.

Scratch the cable news idea but definitely keep the boycotting GOP and Dem candidates idea. It's the only way normal Americans' voices will be heard over the wealthy elites. Political donations will do nothing for the wealthy if no one is voting for the garbage they are trying to buy.

Who knows if any of what he said is true, but it occurred to me that the celebs are likely to shift right given what has happened to their community.

Quaid noted that he would rather have developer Rick Caruso rebuild the city than Karen Bass, commenting on Caruso’s retail property that was fire proof.

I’m predicting a hard step right…and that’s worrisome.

I dunno - keep in mind this state spent 24b to “solve homelessness” over 5 years without tracking any results.

Obviously there is still a homeless population in California- they just do not really care about money or how it is spent. Not the voters, and definitely not the politicians.

I think that is why congress is debating strings attached to the rescue funds - which normally is a no go third rail. Every state is entitled to federal support in times of need but California is so crazy with spending I get why people have concerns for giving them billions in federal aid.

California sends to DC more taxes than it receives. GMAFB.
Disaster aid is that. There shoudl be no strings attached. And Republicans better be careful setting this precedent. They won't always have Trump and FL and the deep south states need aid b/c of hurricanes on the regular.

Has any POTUS ever suggested disaster relief has these kinds of strings attached? I can't think of one.

Just Trump being the petty tyrant he is. We all lose if we follow him down this path.

There is a reason why the fire chief said what she said during an interview. Whether the fire started by global warming or arson or the Santa Ana winds that happen this time is another discussion. The reality is they were not prepared and if you know that you have issues with global warming all the more reason not to cut off water from the north, make sure you are prepared in areas that are vulnerable, have a go to plan with planes etc-some of this stuff took all week. Why are they forcing fireworks from out of state do emissions testing first? This is an emergency just let them in. This has to not happen again. The concern is the progressives not willing to address some of the things that can mitigate fire if it happens. California is a liberal state but even liberal people are agreeing something needs to be reimagined. It is amazing how feelings change when you not only not have a house but no insurance or schools. It is a lot.

+1

Facts matter.

A 17 million budget cut to the L.A. fire department was a big boo boo however you cut it. Officials failed and need to be accountable.

No new efforts to fight the modern fire with the knowledge we have to track when these fires can and will happen. Moving forward Democrats need to move on some issues. There has to be organized burns and fire stops etc. There also needs to be focusing first on people and then conservation. People first. It may not be perfect but what has just happened cannot happen again. I actually think the fire chief is well qualified and she needs to have the resources to get everything done. With the caveat that she is in favor of hiring back the firefighters and collecting brush and finding a plan to work with the water department. If the focus on just CYA then nothing will improve.

California environmentalists blocked much of the brush clearing, fire stops, and many other preventative measures which could have reduced the impact and saved lives here.

Why do Democrats support this insanity?

Stop believing disinformation.

How dare you attack the fairh-based community like that.

Eh…kind of old news. These people have been ripping off CA for decades and now are world art collectors who brag about. They bought most CA politicians years ago and no one cares.
They use more water than all of LA combined.

If people are on a cancel kick - they are a no brainer but people like Fiji water and 300 other products they produce.

Definitely boycotting Fiji water. These people are Satanists.

Just as planned - California FAIR plan has to pass the bill to all California homeowners to cover 1b shortfalls to pay claims.

https://calmatters.org/economy/2025/02/homeowners-insurance-costs-rising-in-california-fair-plan/

I cannot see why any commercial insurance company does business in California after this.

Granted they get to pass costs to customers; but their risk is just getting higher to payout too for claims.

They're blaming Newsom because he wants to run for POTUS. This is the "swiftboats" campaign against him starting. Plain and simple. MAGAs don't care about CA burning other than to use it to score political points, whether they are lies or not.

Newsom has exactly zero chance at a successful POTUS run. California politicians are very unpopular outside of California. Just ask Biden. The VP he threw into the 2024 election fire at the last minute was a Californian and she couldn't get over the California/Biden hurdle to beat the worst candidate in American history. Nothing associated with California or Biden will do well nationally in the current environment just as nothing politically associated with Trump has ever done well.
I think AOC is the future of the Democrat party. She is dynamic and plays well on TV. Unlike Harris, AOC’s thinking/speech etc is very clear and to the point. I listened to Harris closely, but it was muddled. I think AOC should be paired w/another Squad member, or a gay man, to check the DEI boxes. This would give American a true choice in the next election.

Way too left leaning. That would be handing the GOP another win. A centrist is the only way to actually win. Sadly, it probably has to be a good looking, young white male.

Which centrist would you propose?

Careful. There will be a full public accounting of whether the reservoirs were full and whether brush was cleared in the wooded areas. If you want to make bold statements like "the reservoirs were full" when even California officials are saying otherwise, it's going to look bad. The left cannot just create reality. No one is going along with it anymore.

The irony, given that your MAGA leader lies constantly.

Ah yes, everything the left doesn't like is "misinformation."

Buckle up, we are just getting started.

Such gaslighters you MAGA are....laughingstocks
