Oh California

Oh and the whole lie about Mayor Bass cutting LA FD budget? Fake news. It was increased by $50m under her leadership.

They should have done controlled burns and filled the reservoir after two year of history rain in 23-24. Instead they were incompetent and drunk on good vibes.

There is a reason why the fire chief said what she said during an interview. Whether the fire started by global warming or arson or the Santa Ana winds that happen this time is another discussion. The reality is they were not prepared and if you know that you have issues with global warming all the more reason not to cut off water from the north, make sure you are prepared in areas that are vulnerable, have a go to plan with planes etc-some of this stuff took all week. Why are they forcing fireworks from out of state do emissions testing first? This is an emergency just let them in. This has to not happen again. The concern is the progressives not willing to address some of the things that can mitigate fire if it happens. California is a liberal state but even liberal people are agreeing something needs to be reimagined. It is amazing how feelings change when you not only not have a house but no insurance or schools. It is a lot.

It has absolutely not been established. It is absolutely up for dispute.

Reservoirs were full

The chief wrote a memo and this has also been widely reported on top of this. Things need to change.

This is not true. Stop spreading false information. They have already conceded this point. This is not helpful. The water authority didn’t let the fire department know about issues in this area. Again this is widely known.

Wind, wind, wind. Wind is the thing MAGA keeps ignoring about these fires.

A dozen water experts agreed: no water system could handle what these fires need. (CNN)

This again demonstrates that you need a plan. There is not a reason not to make sure all reservoirs are filling and not doing update work during fire season. Oh and let the fire chief know what you are doing. This is not a R or D thing. This is making sure you take care of people. Anyone who says gee they are doing a great job is not helpful to all those people. Many of of us here in DC have friends/family affected. Be nice.

The mayor and the fire chief said they are going to sort out their differences in private. I'd rather see a pay-per-view cage match with the proceeds going to fire relief.

This seriously puts into question the 2028 Olympics.

I certainly don't remember this level of finger pointing and browbeating from MAGA when hurricanes devastated Florida last year. No accusations of incompetent land management, or failure to prepare. Apparently dishing it out is easier than taking it.

No. No it doesn't.

Exactly. It's just more of an effort to "own the libs."

Almost like they completely deny the humanity of Democrats. In this moment, the appropriate response is empathy and shock. Later on there is plenty of time for "policy lessons learned."

Yep! This is why it took so long to get help from the air. It was toooo windy to do it the first few days. It wasn’t because the planes and choppers weren’t available. They couldn’t be used
