Oh California

Some of these “facts” are Newsom trying to look better and are disputed. This is a complex issue and California has not done everything they could to prevent it. Hindsight is also 20/20.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2025/0...altadena-california/

“After the fire began, some Palisades residents and local leaders expressed outrage when they learned that a large reservoir supplying water to local hydrants had been out of commission. On Friday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) ordered an investigation into the loss of water pressure to fire hydrants and the reservoir’s closure.
“We need answers to how that happened,” he wrote in a letter to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and L.A. County Public Works.
The 117 million-gallon Santa Ynez reservoir had been closed for months to repair its cover, said Marty Adams, former general manager and chief engineer at the LADWP, which runs the reservoir and water system. The reservoir is one of several operated by the department across L.A., with a combined capacity of more than 4.1 billion gallons. Santa Ynez is among several local water sources, including Stone Canyon Reservoir, which was open at the time of the fire, and Palisades Reservoir, which was closed and had been off and on for years, Adams said.
LADWP officials have said that demand for water in the Pacific Palisades quadrupled during the fire, dropping water pressure and leaving hydrants empty.”

Careful. There will be a full public accounting of whether the reservoirs were full and whether brush was cleared in the wooded areas. If you want to make bold statements like "the reservoirs were full" when even California officials are saying otherwise, it's going to look bad. The left cannot just create reality. No one is going along with it anymore.

The irony, given that your MAGA leader lies constantly.

Ah yes, everything the left doesn't like is "misinformation."

Buckle up, we are just getting started.

What are you talking about? Getting started? The GOP/MAGA propaganda machine has been flooding the zone with your constant stream of lies and bullshit for years. Why would we listen to you now? You have ZERO credibility at this point. So quit your endless lame attempts at projecting your dishonest, bad faith modus operandi onto us. F off.

Yep! This is why it took so long to get help from the air. It was toooo windy to do it the first few days. It wasn’t because the planes and choppers weren’t available. They couldn’t be used

MAGA lies. It is all they do. They won't want to acknowledge the wind and the real complication and danger it posed, because that would undermine their lies and attempts to politicize this tragedy. Heartless, deranged ghouls.

Because there isn’t this level of incompetence in Florida when it comes to hurricane preparedness.

There is a reason why the fire chief said what she said during an interview. Whether the fire started by global warming or arson or the Santa Ana winds that happen this time is another discussion. The reality is they were not prepared and if you know that you have issues with global warming all the more reason not to cut off water from the north, make sure you are prepared in areas that are vulnerable, have a go to plan with planes etc-some of this stuff took all week. Why are they forcing fireworks from out of state do emissions testing first? This is an emergency just let them in. This has to not happen again. The concern is the progressives not willing to address some of the things that can mitigate fire if it happens. California is a liberal state but even liberal people are agreeing something needs to be reimagined. It is amazing how feelings change when you not only not have a house but no insurance or schools. It is a lot.

It has absolutely not been established. It is absolutely up for dispute.

No one is alleging the state of California cut the budget. They are pointing out that Los Angeles cut the local budget. The state and local governments are two distinct entities. Newsom is playing a sleight of hand trick by trying to say the state budget was beefed up when the discussion is actually about the local budget.

No. No it doesn't.

No fires? No winds? All rebuilt? Hmmm.

Oh and the whole lie about Mayor Bass cutting LA FD budget? Fake news. It was increased by $50m under her leadership.

Uhhh no. That's her on January 6th, 2025 asking for a $48.8 Million reduction...

I think California is screwed.

Norman’s raised is the shithole of Lancaster and I am sure climate change has some role - and politicians too.

Like 1% climate; 99% politicians.

All those burned houses will now not be able to be taxed for what the houses were worth pre fire -a house that was millions of dollars is not worth a lot when it is burned to ground. Will take years to get permits and rebuild. This fire is going to hurt people not even initially affected because this loss will affect all sorts of programs with funding. California is notoriously difficult with building permits. There will be zero appetite to pay more taxes to make up for this and progressives will continue to be blamed. Hoping there are lessons learned but have yet to hear any Democrats agree that you have to prioritize people over little fish. You have to allow fire stops and brush clearing. There has to be a way to have balance. Also all those fire fighters fired for. it taking Covid Vax need to be hired back asap. Also need to allow help with trucks to go directly to fighting fires and not have to do emissions testing first. Wishing the best for California!!!

Due to the massive amount of damage, I suspect the building requirements may be suspended for awhile.

One reserve was closed due to repairs. Wouldn’t have made a difference. Too massive to fight.

Initially we heard it was a Tesla truck that started the fire. Now they claim they don’t know. Then they arrested someone starting a fire?

So if it was a Tesla product, think we will hear about it? Pretty sure Musk will get Trump to lie about it.
